Watched the videos an watched the bullet comparator one twice , never checked my hornady inserts measurements . Would they measure right on the money or are they gonna be inaccurate as well ? Any ideas ? as I was not aware these companies were making them this way . I will go back an check mine an report what I find .

I'm not sure how they would measure, but like I said on the video, "Don't assume they are right, check them!"

Did I just watch a video of Erik Cortina breaking out the Dremel??? WTH? I didn't invest thousands of dollars in equipment to cut my brass with a Dremel - where's the technique for using a slitting saw on the mill or buying a bandsaw so that I can modify my brass? LOL...

Jay, that's funny because I actually used the milling machine with a 1/8 end mill to mill a slot on the neck. I them figured more people have dremels than milling machines, so I used that instead.

Great idea, Erik..
After watching your video on Ogive Comparators today I went and shocked myself by measuring the inside of my own Sinclair Nut, and 7mm (and 6mm) Sinclair Bullet Sorting comparator (which comes with the granite block, and which I never really used because it was so bloody useless )
Surprise, surprise !! The useless Sinclair 7mm comparator measures 0.2855" internally, whilst my "Sinclair Nut" has a 7 mm hole measurement of 0.2725
Both 6 mm Ogive measurements (the "Nut", and the 6mm individual bullet comparator) are spot on my Bartlein 5R x 6mm bore measurement of 0.237"
I went straight to his website and ordered one of the BGC bullet comparitors in 7mm, along with two of the Caliper comparators.
Many thanks for the heads up.
What is the best extra tool to use with with his Caliper Comparator to accurately measure the bearing surface of 7mm projectiles ??

I make a bearing surface sorting tool that I will make a video on, but you can simply use two of Bob Green's caliper tools to measure bearing surface.

I have got the Hornady LnL bullet comparator tool, but with its aluminum comparators, I was advised by a recognized expert here in Australia that you can't really trust the measurements from such a soft metal , in a mass produced item, taking repeated measurements that will wear it away.
I use it with steel comparators in 30 deg, 35 deg, 40 deg etc shoulder angles to measure/check my shoulder bump when FLS'ing.
Do you know if anyone makes a steel 7mm comparator insert (that that will fit into the Hornady LnL , and work on the boat-tail of 7mm bullets ) if I was to use the Bob Green Caliper Cpmparator on the Ogive ?
Any chance of a photo of the tool that you make ?
Price and availability ?

I'm not ready to release my tool as I have some minor changes to make. I can make an insert for the Hornady tool.

Good videos thank you for sharing. I see that you use Wilson seating dies. Do these have a consistent advantage over forster micrometer seating dies?

The video's are great, a little dark, but doable. I have subscribed. I would like to see you do a video or series of videos showing you performing in detail your long range setup at 100yds. It is after all one of the most viewed threads there is. Start with a new barrel or gun though to make it real. You will need some Go-pros to make the shooting real.

I will do that. I have a brand new 6.5x47 Lapua barrel that I need to work up a load for.

GoPro is what I've been looking at. My current camera shoots HD video but I think I made a mistake in the settings. It would be nice to have two anyway for doing multiple angle shots. Don't worry, it will only get better.

Erik--Back on 8/11/2013 you stated to me on this site that you know for sure that base to ogive and bearing surface measurements on bullets don't matter. I read above that you are to market a gauge to do these things. Did you change your mind?

I checked my Hornady bullet comparator inserts and came up with these measurments. Maybe that's why my savage shoots so good , what I lack in reloading skills my savage makes up for on paper.

17 cal.=.161
22 cal.=.214
24 cal.=.233
26 cal.=.254
28 cal.=.275
30 cal.=.299
33 cal.=.328
