Enduron Powder for Breaking in a new Barrel

What do you think of this idea? A barrel break in procedure is usually shoot a round or three and clean until there is no copper. What if you don't deposit the copper in the first place?

Very good question.I've wondered that myself. After pondering the situation, and knowing the characteristics of anti-copper powders, I'm thinking the sooty deposit it leaves behind may be just as counterproductive as the copper itself. After all, it lays down on the surface of the bore, same as copper, as the next bullet rides right over the top of it. Just my "theory", but met be totally wrong! Lol

I don't think the extra sooty layer hurts a new barrel from what I have seen I broke in a new Bartlein 6.5 top of the line heavy match barrel with 4451. The barrel was polished from the factory and although it takes about 10 patches of c4 to get all the black stuff out, there is never any copper residue at all. Same thing now with RL 16 powder. I also broke in a 30-06 barrel from Bartlein same type of barrel, polished but used IMR 4350 with 215gr. bullets. I also used c4 to clean and it too was dirty but no copper fouling at all. Now when I shoot 155gr bullets with IMR 4064, my barrel is clean in 3 passes with c4 and no copper fouling and very little black carbon. I think it has more to do with the powder and barrel weather it's Enduron powder or another. Other powders can be dirty too. When I lost my barrels at the Pac-Nor fire I ordered 2 barrels from Bartlien to replace the ones I lost. They seem to be very good barrels so I think the barrel has a lot to do with the break in procedure. The Pac-Nor barrels in the past have been the same, no copper fouling. I have never stopped to clean after a few shots. I have always just shot slow and never let the barrel get hot and only a couple dozen shots for load testing when new.
