Ejector marks

Any chance those two rounds had any sort of lubrication on them? And BTW I have also had some Hornady factory ammo that acted like hot loads, and not a big fan of Hornady brass, either. Try another ammo in it and see what happens.
Yup. Factory Hornady 7PRC loads were terrible. They loaded them that way to get the velocity they advertised. Brass was useless after the original firing.

Hot loads from Hornady are pretty well documented. Problems with “match chambers” is another thing that comes up. Hot loads in smaller chambers being a bad combination. Possibly a short chamber.

I would take note of the fact that it was two rounds in a row, after shooting the Berger ammo. That doesn’t seem random.

Is it possible the Berger rounds left something behind? Maybe a copper ring from bullets being shaved entering the bore instead of a carbon ring, or excessive fouling. With less than 100 rounds there’s probably still some sharp edges in the chamber.

Just my experience, excessive pressure or soft brass.

I wore out the throat in a 7mm Remington magnum, but never had a carbon ring problem. But these new breed of cartridges are working at higher pressures, tighter rifling twists, and long/heavy bullets, new powders.......maybe new problems to be solved.

Yup. There is a trade-off on everything.

You are shooting factory loaded ammo and the brass doesn't fit YOUR chamber!! Nothing like rolling YOUR OWN!! ;)
Case loose in the chamber, when fired, case gets blown back against the bolt face and you get ejector marks, the primer tries to back out of the pocket, gets cratered and raises a ridge. If you don't reload, no choice but to live with it.
You MAY try pulling the bullets out (longer OAL) ) to a touch or jam into the lands.
That will hold the case head against the bolt face and the brass will get blown out to fit the chamber but if you don't roll your own, no help.
