Anyone on here host or shoot in a egg shoot? Im thinking about hosting one this yr on good Friday for coworkers and friends.

Yrs ago a sportsman club I belonged to would host one every yr. It was a lot of hunt and got pretty competitive.

I have been involved in about 10 or so. They are very messy, There can be stink the next couple days and it draws skunks in also. We switched to small water balloons about the same size. Basically the same results without the mess and stink. The key to water balloons is good quality balloons, a good fill method, and a good hanging method. If you're interested in this PM me and I'll help you get it going. We have been doing water balloons for about 15 years. John

Real hanging eggs. 75 yds irons, 100 scoped both standing. Pistol 25 yds.

The 300 yard egg is shot from bench rest.

This replaced live turkey shoots . The head & some neck is a much larger target then an egg.

A 3" diameter balloon is a much better choice of targets. Imo.

3 shots for $10, gets ham or frozen turkey as prizes.

As a fun night-time alternative to egg shoots, when the local PDs invited me to their training sessions, we'd finish up by shooting at glow sticks taped to the targets, at 100y. There's no doubt when you hit; the light goes out, sometimes spectacularly, and sometimes with a dribble, but it goes dark.

For every poster on this Forum and too many others who have claimed "my rifle will shoot under dime-sized groups all day no matter what ammo" -- you know who you are -- put M&Ms (not the peanut kind) at 300y and show us how it's done. They won't melt in your hand.

Thread deviation: regarding group size, don't be showing 3-shot groups unless you're posting in a hunting thread. And if there is space at all between adjacent bullet holes, then your group CANNOT be smaller than the diameter of the bullet. Posters (or is it "posers") who measure the undersized holes in paper left by bullets and then subtract full bullet diameter are only kidding themselves. All day long.
