Hey, fellas. I'm gathering parts to put together a plinker rifle, and would like to put irons on it instead of a scope (for now, at least. My eyes may tell me different). For the record, this will be for fun, not competition, using a Remington 700 RH SA receiver. I'm thinking the older Redfield front and rear sights would fit the bill and look right for what I'm wanting to do, so here's my questions...
-From what I've read, the Olympics were the 1st version, with the Internationals being an improvement over the Olympics and the Palma being the final improved version. The only differences I've found though is the Palma aperture lens threads are different to accommodate Gehmann (sp?) sights? Is this correct, or is there more here?
-The front hood sight looks to be unchanged throughout. The front sight block is what sets the height of the sight. Again, is this correct?
-Since they're numbered, I've looked for references on the rear sight blocks which attaches to the receiver, but haven't found one yet. Are they referenced in older Redfield print catalogs only? Can someone point me to a reference for these?
Any info/references/help in general on these sights would be appreciated. Just wanting to get an idea of what to look for & what I'm looking at before digging out my wallet. Thanks guys,
Jim
