econ stimulous package

I received a letter in the mail explaining that I will be get some extra money from the government this year! Being the patriotic fellow that I am, I decided to stimulate one of the advertisers of this site instead of saving it. George W. must have known exactly what a VX III varmint 6.5 - 20 costs. What are you guys going to do with your extra money?

Paying bills, would like to at least try to squeak a set of Redding "s" type dies for my .22-250 out of it. Oh yeah, and probably pay back a little credit card hit from Cabo in 2 weeks!!

Enjoy your leupy!!

Believe me, this was in the plans long before the stimulus package was announced.

A new scope for my heavy barrel .22-250 does sound pretty good though...........

Mine will offset the new price of gas to go to work. That $600 will get me to work and back for 4 weeks if I drive straight there and back.

One thing that strikes me as "funny",for lack of a better word) is they are calling this a tax "refund" but they are giving it to some people that didnt even pay taxes. Its hard to refund money that someone didnt give you in the first place. For those of us that do pay taxes its a refund, for those that dont pay its welfare that the other taxpayers had to pay for.

I dont mind paying my part even though I think the goverment is VERY wastefull with my money, I dont mind, real)disabled people and veterans not paying, but what I do mind is when im on my way to work for a 13 hour shift every day and I look at all the people sitting on the porch drinking beer out of a bag just waiting for me to send in my taxes so they can get another check and continue to drink more beer and sit on the porch.

I cant help but think if they stopped getting those checks they would probably get off the porch and be a productive member of society and stop being a drain.

Sorry for the rant, but it is the weekend before April 15 so I just wanted to get that off my chest to make writting this check easier.

non liberal
You are absolutely correct in your thinking.
Now try to get those pro politicians to stop those welfare
Refunds""
Me I am going to try to buy something made in the USA.
Hummm that's a tough one. Maybe some more J4 Jackets
I have a american made point die coming so this will help
test it out

Sounds like you guys slept through Economics during your stay in college. This is titled a "economic stimulus" because it is made to stimulate the economy...and those lower income groups have whats called a higher marginal propensity to consume. Thus they will spend their refund,or what ever you want to call it)
as local consumption therefore stimulating the economy, via an increase in consumption). Don't knock this package until it has taken full effect, which it hasn't done yet). Some higher income groups like some of you guys, hopefully) will just put this money into a retirement fund/investment portfolio, which is the smart thing for you to do because you will be paying this money back next year). I do however understand what you mean by the guy on the porch with a brown sack in his hand...but a couple of weeks ago I witnessed a man with NO LEGS in a wheel chair beside the road with a sign for food,he looked like Vietnam age, so he was probably a vet) and I thought "you know if anything we should be giving more to make sure this doesn't happen"...Some thing to think about any way.

I agree with what your are saying and understand why they are doing it. I was mostly pointing out the "PC" wording people are using. I have always been one to call things as I see them, if its welfare, charity, jump start, or a new TV, that's fine call it that, but for many its not a "refund".

I liked it better when there was at least a hint of shame in receiving welfare, food stamps, etc. Now days because they didn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable, they give people what looks like a credit card instead of food stamps so nobody knows that its their tax money being spent.

I was raised with the understanding from day one "this family will not expect anything from anybody unless its earned".

I also agree with you on the disabled, those are the ones I want to help, not the people that are just playing the system.

Just finially finished my income tax. I get zero, zip, nada from the the ESP. Once again, working hard and saving money winds up costing you in the end. In addition, 85% of my social security income was taxable at 30+ percent. The government has had the money I put in there for as long as 43 years. No way I'll ever get back what I put in much less any interest from it.

On the other hand, a friend of the neighbor who occasionally stops by looking for a few free beers and hasn't worked for ten years or more,at the age of 52) due to "mental disability" filed an income tax return for the first time in a decade and he will get money from the ESP.

OK, I don't need the money. He will spend it on beer and cigarettes. Those are about the only necessities that you and I don't provide him. I think it sucks..... Every time he shows up here I'm tempted to turn him in. The only thing wrong with him is he's lazy.

There are a lot out there that are very good at milking the system.

See around hear all of the radio stations and on tv there telling people who normally dont file to file just so they can get that money from the government.

So from the sounds of it the government wants people to abuse well fare and all that other sh**

So if 600 bucks fell out of the sky, what would you do with it? I bought a scope. If another 600 bucks falls out, I'm going to buy a chronograph and a auto powder dispenser.

Matt,

You bring up a valid point. Perhaps instead of another scope I should get the RCBS Chargemaster combo I have always wanted.

Thanks!!

Yes i see your point to some degree.
Here's one also. There is a tent city under a bridge here . There are local street people there. The was a birthday party for one of the guys at work. TOO much food was ordered sooooo
The people at the plant offered the excess to the poor street people. THEY Turned it down say they couldn't buy beer with this''''' Here's another one a guy and a gal begging for money disabled viet vet'''' They have a new caddy around the corner''' We can't figure out whats legit any more'
1/2 of our total taxes collected in the county go for social programs. There's help out there, some just won't go apply for it. They would have to go sign for the check every day.
Now the place is only 5 city block,s from the bridge'
This is true no BS. My son was shocked''''
when this happened

I'm just going to put what our family gets toward our property taxes. It will pay half of it! So if they really want to "stimulate" me they can give me the other half and pay the whole bill!

Can't decide between making a lump payment on reducing principle of mortgage OR just making 2 payments early? have bullets & powder and scopes. Even have a new stock. Now if I sold the old stock,McM A5) ... then I'd use that money for more shooting stuff !!
