it is 1/2" ar 500 notsure what it will stand up to. i know it is suppose to be pretty strong stuff. i have heard that the faster lighter bullets do the most damage. bring the 22-250ai and the 308, just throw a scope on the 308. or shoot the 22.250 at long range too. how fast you getting those bullets going?

I really need to get my chronograph fixed lol. I don't really even have a load I trust, yet..... I'd imagine 3300-3400 fps is in the ballpark.
But I've heard some of the guys at our club say their 22-243s and 22-6mm IMP are punching steel w/ the heavies.
I've shot my 25/06 IMP on steel and it does no damage, but my 308 does with the pointed sierras, they act just like a FMJ. I think it really boils down to your bullet selection rather than the caliber.
I just got two reactive bouncing targets for my b-day today, so this will be an excellent tool to gather drop data for the new barrel. I can't wait to get out and try these things out.
I want to try ALF's load, but he mentioned 75 grain hunting bullets didn't see them listed?Just the target version.

If you want to check them out in person, the BI-Mart in Cheney, WA should have some in the sporting goods section. The only downsides I can tell is there won't be the clank when the target is hit, and the bullet splatter won't be evident like on a steel target;with an attentive spotter that shouldn't be a problem though.
The material is a heavy plastic, so its lightweight compared to steel. Supposedly this material can take thousands of hits of any caliber. They were fairly inexpensive, less that 20 dollars.

Looks like a good experiment. Like the guy on the video said the price of steel is getting outrageous, that to me is a major selling point. Plus its light enough you can pack them in the hills and set them up for target practice at various ranges. Good concept. I got the "Do All Outdoors" brand block target and their ball target, made out of the same type of plastic. I bet you could incorporate those plastic gongs into the varmint stage, so we don't have to worry about the steel getting beat up at closer ranges, just an idea.

i havent yet ill get on there and play around with the website a bit.
i would like to figure out a better way to figure out what calibers can not shoot the small game. i just cant please everyone and maybe this will be one aspect to look at more in the future.

I don't mean to be hard on you about caliber restrictions, I've just seen some guys actually turned away from matches because of what they've brought.
There's one guy who runs some matches at the club who actually turned away more than one shooter who drove hundreds of miles because his rifle combination didn't fit within the rules of a club match (non-sanctioned) fun match. It's sort of sad, because it's mainly because he was such a stickler. People don't come back when they get mad, and they usually tell others. I realize there's a place and often a reason for rules; sometimes rules can be overboard, but I think you've definitely got a valid reason for caliber restrictions.
It's a tough job being a match directors since you take all the fire and hear all the criticisms. I commend you for wanting to start up a match that I'm sure many guys out here will enjoy.
Hopefully we can collectively provide ideas to improve upon an already great idea for a match.

think the match website is pretty well done. i have made little changes to errors and made it easy to use i think. go and check it out and get registered, you can also pay range fees in advance if you would like.
