so what happens to the millions of gallons of water? we kind of need that way more than more than oil and gas, I know not the OPs intention

There are pretty rough times ahead in the oil industry. Bernie, Hillary and all the anti frackers can rejoice as it will surely be slowed down. Here in western ND in many places there are 20k' long well bores as close as 60-70' apart, thousands of them.

Each has been fracked with millions of pounds of sand and millions of gallons of water. If fracking caused earthquakes we would have several daily. I'm sure the 20 minute TV show that prompted your question was funded by the people who think their coal burning EVs are far superior to my fuel burning pickup.

Fracking is NOT some new technique that is suddenly bringing doom to the planet. The first commercial frac on an oil well was near Duncan OK in 1949

All this renewable energy these people push does not cover it's own carbon footprint from installation. Furthermore none of it is profitable without government subsidies. The only profit in renewable energy is building the system then selling it to an electric cooperative who is mandated by the government to meet a certain % renewable energy. Then they Jack up your electric bill to cover the difference.

It's renewable energy NOT sustainable energy. The earth moves and shakes daily and to think we're causing it is silly.
 
And a spot up in northern California (I don't remember the locale) that is leaking a bunch of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. I saw a program about it a while back, it was killing ALL the vegetation in the surrounding area. They did air analysis of the surrounding area and it showed normal levels, ground concentration levels were 10+ times what they should have been.

CO2 and H2S are normal products of volcanic activity (and other processes.) Anyplace with active volcanic processes will have elevated levels of both. Both are heavier than air, so will tend to pool at ground level in depressions.

While there is no denying we need water anyone who says they need water WAY more than oil & gas needs to take a close look at their lifestyle. Are you willing to give up your car, plentiful cheap food and EVERYTHING else (it's a long list) made possible from oil & gas? By all means lead by example!

There is more water running into the oceans every day than probably used in a years worth of fracking what do you plan to do about that? So we save the water that there is plenty of anyway and leave the oil in the ground and go back to $5 a gallon gasoline?

After 50 years of sending trillions of dollars to Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Lybia, etc. I've never seen so many people so butthurt about gaining some energy independence. I guess we can go back to being slaves to the middle eastern countries that seem to hate us so bad and love to break it off in our asses for oil. We could raise the prices on the weapons we sell them to compensate and they will have us back to $4-5 per gallon gasoline in no time.

The people of this country are completely ignorant about energy. The folks on both coasts would rather keep buying foreign energy than put a pipeline in the ground and buy American oil from American soil and keep their money in the USA. What is so hard to understand about we can't keep buying everything from overseas?

Seriously I'll give up on the internal combustion engine when there is a SUSTAINABLE, ECONOMICAL alternative but then there's that pesky fact that almost everything we use daily is not possible without petroleum.
 
West Texas has a 5.0 quake (near a nowheresville named Mentone) last week, felt it here in SE NM. Never felt a quake before.

Ask your representative or senator what's going to replace the motor fuel tax that maintains the infrastructure when we're all driving those electric cars. It's in the billions of dollars. I look eventually for the whole electric car industry to be exposed as a scam.
That plan has been in the works for several years, it's a mileage tax that take the place of a fuel tax. Electric isn't a scam, there were electric vehicles around when the first cars powered by the internal combustion motor was first utilized as the cheaper (at that time) alternative to electric power. Then as now, only to a lesser degree now battery technology is the weakest link in that chain of power. The scam is from the "greenies" that say there's no pollution with an electric car. From the car itself there is none, but where the energy is produced if by coal, natural or some other "fossil fuel" there is pollution. If that electricity is produced by wind or solar, any pollution is negligible. However these are probably the two most inefficient means of producing electricity, and neither industry could survive without HUGE SUBSIDIES.

I was having a beer and a good smoke with a friend who's a petroleum geologist, he really put this in perspective.
People bitch about the price of a gallon of gas when it's high, but think nothing of spending a couple bucks on a pint of water!
