Early Shilen 222 rifle

I have an early Shilen BR Rifle chambered in 222. It has a Shilen receiver and barrel, and a laminated walnut stock. The receiver and barrel just say shilen, but no serial number visible. I haven’t disassembled anything so it might be tucked away somewhere lol. It also has a 24x redfield scope. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Sorry I deleted some of my post. I’m looking for any information on this rifle such as a rough date of manufacture or specs.

Looks like an early rifle made in Dryden, N,Y, before the move to Texas.
Stock is factory Shilen as well. I believe the early ones used Rem 700 bolts.

It strongly resembles some of the Hart experimental actions. They used a recessed thread and a "sleeve" over the barrel like that appears to do.

As far as when it was made...?

Interested in seeing the bolt lugs. Are they vertical? Are they interrupted? How many lugs are there?

Bob White has a bunch of four lug early Shilen rifles for sale.

I'd put this one in the mid 1960's, from what I am looking at here. Ed left Dryden in 1959-1960 ish. He wnt to Munson's Corners I beleive with Dewey and then to Texas. The laminates were common on his early 4 lug design from 1961 on. I am basing this tangentially on his history with Ross Sherman in Dryden and when they went seperate ways.

Looking over the listings on Bob White's page, two Shilen rifles sound similar. On has ha 16 inch long action, the other 14.5 inches. Both are early 4 lugs. Both are "unlimited" guns in 222 or variation thereof. At least that is how they are described. No photos are listed. These are early guns, 1960 and after, as best as I can determine. What say you Butch?

Thanks for all the helpful information. Here are some more images

That's a sleeved Remington action,722?, with a Shilen barrel. Look at the pic looking at the rear of the action. You can see the outline of the action inside the sleeve. The stock looks like a Shilen but the sleeve ??

I am agreeing with Dave. Now that we can see th einside it sure looks like a Shilen sleeve.

There weren't many of those UL actions made. The only other one I know of is with Don Geraci. He had a 22PPC that he just wore us out with back in the early 80's. He never could duplicate the performance of that barrel. Thank goodness.

Off topic, but @DaveTooley, I am still shooting that 5.6x50 Mag brass I got from you. The rifle shoots...if I could just learn to shoot it! I'm in the market for some more of it should anyone have any.
