Ear plugs, not muff's

Looking for suggestions on good ** ear plugs. I can't get a good cheek weld wearing muff's.
** good as in good at noise reduction / hearing protection

Cheek weld is not necessary for accuracy. Getting the Parallax out is. Most Benchrest guys don't touch the stock with their cheeks. You get inconsistent dragging when your cheek touches. I even see guys use baby powder on their cheeks and stocks to help the gun slide. I use extremely high rings and tapered bases to keep my cheek away. If you want good plugs I believe the best are the ones that are custom fitted. Matt

The rubber type with 3 to 4 ribs are by far best for prone in my opinion. They stay sealed in place much better than even the customs I have tried. For matches I use these under electronic muffs so I can hear commands well.

Stihl, the chain saw brand makes the best earplugs I have found.

I only use ear plugs when I shoot and they have a noise reduction of 33db I have never found any that have that high of a rating, thay are made by Howard light.

Go to a local gun show and have a set made for you. I think I paid ~$75 for a set about 4 or 5 years ago and they are the best money I have spent on shooting gear. They work really well and are comfortable.

are these the ones you are talking about ?http://www.opticsplanet.com/howard-leight-super-leight-pre-shaped-foam-protective-earplugs.html
The ones I remember seeing a lot of rifle shooters use looked like a fired 40 S&W or a 45 case with a 4 ribbed soft plug sticking out the end where the bullet was.

I've used the custom molded plugs for many years. I get a new set every 2-3 years as your ears will change somewhat over time. If that's too pricey then the Howard Leight foam disposable units work well also BUT on a one use basis. Once they've been compressed for initial insertion re-insertion doesn't have the same effect.

Mack's Ear Seals are the best I have ever used and still use them. They have a noise reduction level of 27. One thing I do is glue the ear seals to the cord as they fit so well in my ears that the cord will come off unless they are glued.

Bought my last sets at Walgreen's, $2.99

They are also available at Walmart and some gun websites.

Champion corded ear plugs. Probably $3-$4 at the gun shop. Very comfortable. I shoot outdoors with guys with muzzle brakes no problem. If you're under a cover, the cord is fine so will fit comfortably under muffs if you want to double up. If you're having trouble with large muffs, check out MSA Sordin headsets. They're low profile.

I use the kinda that have the "C" that go around your the back of your neck or over your head.....wherever is comfortable. Not sure who makes them but they seem to work for me.

Baddog, the plugs I use are made by Howard light, I get them from our medical supply company, they are orange and have a nrr of 33db. If you can find any plug that has a 33db rating it will work great.

I was thinking these would have the ribs like most reusable, I think I saw some at Walgreen's

Thank you

I use the custom molded plus and have for over 20 years. Still have a set from 1993 that fit and work fine.

If you find a large Skeet or Trap registered shoot, regional, state etc., there are usually companies in attendance making them while you wait.

I was told that hearing loss can be experienced by loud noises transferring through the mastoid area behind your ears, and that is what makes it necessary to wear earmuffs.
