Howdy !

Is that Becky Sinclair's old gun ??

With regards,
357Mag
Hey!

No, the duece is a 40x clone. The 22PPC is Fred's old Superior, and the 6x50 is Becky's Superior, circa 1980...

I just shot the 6x50 last evening in a 1 mph ish wind. Just enough to take away the haze that forms late in the evening in my scope, but not enough to really move things. I will send you a photo...

In short, I was "finding paper" after putting the scope back on it. Once I hit paper, I dialed over to the hole. Shot again, but saw no hit. Held a smidge low, fired and the hole got a bit bigger. Put three more in the hole without making it bigger. Best group I ever shot with it. BIBS Machine in CO did a great job on that rebarrel. Makes me almost want another barrel sitting bye, just in case.

Well the match is over, and on its way. I learned another thing about this Shilen Barrel,,,, it don't like being clean!

I've shot two matches with it and the last one I was caught on the first record target, going from sighter to record, I had a good 1/4" poi change, going back to the sighter, and back on, so I held for it,,,, ( you cant trick me)? Ended up with 4 shots in under .2" high just what I held for thinking that first shot was bad, resulting in a high .4" group.

Only to take down 8 of the 19 6mmppcs shooting that day. Had I not over thought that first shot and held off for the rest, I'd have easily taken out over 12 of them, hard to recover from a .250" or more blunder!

This match I shot 3 sightsers and shot my record then cleaned on my first two targets. Realizing both times the last three shots were all tight in one ragged hole.

So the last 3 targets I shot without cleaning, and no sighters, picked a condition and ran with it! Best 3 groups in a row since I put the triple duesh together 3 months ago. And only the second time shooting LT-32, YES THIS LITTLE 222 LOVES IT!

In calm conditions testing the LT-32 with Lapua 222 Match bras and Rem. 7.5 SRP it proved to shoot better than I can shoot it. But when I get my reamer, and cut the 2011 LV Krieger for it, I expect big changes, and will expect it with this powder!

Shot my 5 cards today. I went with my 1965 Remington 722 222. I was hoping to do better then I did but I had fun and snuck at least one good target in there. Shot them mid day here in KY with temps at 83 humidity at 65% and switching right to left winds.

I am hereby claiming, in advance, my low post on the Wailing Wall. Very humbling but oh so much fun. @S Miller thank you for doing this.
Now don't be trying to claim my spot there Snert.
I managed to screw things up in typical fashion. Of course I neglected to read the instructions, so I just grabbed some targets the first trip out, and proceeded to shoot some holes. Groups weren't bad, just in the wrong part of the target. So my first three targets will be somewhat over 5" with the penalty. Took my last 2 targets out today in some good confitions (forgetting my flags of course). At any rate, I enjoyed shooting the match and introducing myself to such a pleasant accurate cartridge.

You guys will find some stiff competition for the bottom spot. I pondered my performance as i packaged the targets up and couldnt decide if it was because I hadnt shot the gun in 8 years? The entire pot of coffee I drank that morning while spraying crops? Maybe because I havent shot anything but Ballards & Hepburns for the last 3 years? I am claiming all 3 and leaving room for more excuses as they come to me!

Well I think I miss interpreted the instructions. "Anything outside the box will add 1". So I tried really hard to keep everything inside the little box above the bullseye, I think I was concentrating on staying inside the box more than a tiny group and had one totally outside the black box. I have no idea how I will place. It was sure a lot of fun and would love to do it again.

I guess that’s my bad on the instructions. The box I was referring to is the 4.75”x 3.5” I guess it’s a rectangle isn’t it, that encompasses the rings. If you want to give it another try just let me know and I’ll send you more targets.

Sending my targets back tomorrow . In March I fell and cracked my hip and back so 7-18-2023 is my first time out . My gun is a
Savage 112
Barrel is Brux 22' long With out barrel nut .
old junk Maple stock
Rifle Basic trigger
46x Wever scope
52 gr Berger Bullets
IMR 4198 . 21 grs
Win primers
Shot better on the sighter targets , Maybe I can do better next time . Picture not at the range .

Listen, I was first to claim last, so you guys just back off at my claim of fame! However, I am now contemplating whether the match was more or less fun than reading the list (string??) of great alibi's and excuses.

Did I mention I shot my groups in sub-zero temps, with deep snow and was distracted by the horseflies landing on my scope lens?

Match conditions should never be climate controlled, but sounds like you shot in about the same conditions everyone else did snert,,, I just added a sweatshirt under my jacket!

Ya, Ya, Ya.
And you walked a mile both ways, uphill, through 2' of snow carrying all your stuff!

Ok, !I am tired of waiting for a nice day, there are none, just wind and smoke. So tomorrow morning as long as it's not pouring rain or lightning I am going to shoot my targets. Gun was back in the corner of the safe. 700 BDL sporter complete with factory trigger. I did remove the sights when I bought it 30 some years ago, maybe more. Found a box of ammo, probably been 10 years since I shot this. 3.5 x 10 Leupold. Here is a pic. Used this mostly for running deer matches and shooting turkeys.I'll post the result pics tomorrow no matter how they turn out.
