Any one use this on there blasting cabinet?
Thinking of getting one but was wonder if it would be a wast of money and time.

I use a small shop vac. Just bought one yesterday on clearance for $45. After the second dust collector went out i found a cheaper route. The vacuums last about a year if you keep them clean

People looking for serious dust collection in wood shops seem to prefer the big 3+hp cyclonic dust separators that use big ducting like 6".

In a blast cabinet with a shopvac the small ones might be fine.

I think I saw Chinese knockoffs of the smaller cyclonic dust separators for a decent discount. There is also the trash can lid type which are even cheaper but not as efficient.

I use one on my blast cabinet and it is well worth it in my opinion. I have the large 16 gallon Rigid shop vac and when I was using it hooked directly to the blast cabinet, I was always cleaning the filter on the shop vac. Now I have the dust deputy connected to the blast cabinet and I just connect my shop vac hose to it when I am going to blast. I do not have problems with filter blockage anymore.

I made a pre-cleaner from a 6 gal plastic pail , a screw on lid kit and some plumbing PVC fittings and elbows . Might not be perfect but it does help .

This. 5 gallon Home Depot bucket, couple inches of water in the bottom of the bucket so that the vertical pipe (that the vacuum hose goes into) is just under the surface with the lid on. Too much water in the bottom will result in sucking water into the wet/dry vac, just enough to "gurgle" works best for me.

Have been unsing dust deputy on shop vacs for many years now its worth every penny , cyclone separates 98% of the stuff so vac is runing cleaner and much cooler , would never again use a vac without cyclone atached to prefilter the stuff. Carbon fiber dust that we vacum much of the time kills electrical machines and any electronics like nothing else.

You can do like Tobnpr and have the intake from the cabinet just under water .

On mine the exhaust to the vac is on the top cover and the intake from the cabinet comes in from the side and an elbow directs the air downward and is just above the water . You can adjust the water to what ever level works for you . Oh and I was wrong mine is just a 5 gal pail not a 6 gal . I have since made a baffle for it out of an old squirrel cage fan and some screening and now use it dry . Less mess but not has effective but it helps . I'm sure a search on you tube would come up with ideas .

I know when its time to replace my shop vac when i turn it on and it blows dust everywhere!
