Duplin Bipod cant

Does anyone have a solution for stopping a Dupiln bipod from canting on every shot. It’s on a 308. I have replaced the star washers. Helped for one 20 shot string. I can’t be the only one having this problem.

My solution was replacing it with a flex pod.

Seriously though, have you taken it apart? The aluminum plates on mine got ate into by the clamping mechanism and would no longer hold cant because the clamping surface was eaten away. I wonder if yours is the same way?

I thought about having a machine shop cut me some new plates out of a harder material, or trying to put some kind of tool steel inserts where the clamping surface is, but in the end I decided it wasn't worth the effort and bought something else.

Yes it’s worn quite a bit. I have had a Phoenix but it was too heavy for my rig with the new barrel. So I traded it for a Duplin for the weight savings. I have looked at a lot of other bipods and many have a similar locking system to the Dublin. At this point I’m giving it to a machinist friend of mine and see what he comes up with.

Yes....find or buy a CenShot bipod from John Weil and chuck the Duplin.

Better quality, ultralight and the blueprint (read copy) for the Duplin.

If you want to salvage it and keep the weight down, see if your machinist friend can cut you new plates using 7075 aluminum then have them hard anodized. I don't think those will wear out.

I was looking at doing this, but decided I didn't want to put the effort in it. I had been looking at the Flex Bipod for a while, so I decided to go that route instead.

Been using Center Shot bipods off-n-on since John first came out with 'em. Lots of rounds over 'em - never had this problem. That said... from the ones that I've handled, the Duplin is generally a bit 'tighter' all around than the Center Shot - which is usually what most people like about it. Maybe this is an unfortunate side effect of that?

The Flex 'pod is a masterpiece of simplicity. Maybe not to everyone's taste, for sure, and it takes some playing around to find the 'sweet spot' with it - but so far they are pretty reliable compared to some of the more 'delicate' options out there...

Is the Center Shot bipod currently produced? Most online searches of the product's name or Misters Joe Huddleston and John Weil seem to point to various gun forums which mention a defunct http://censhot.com web address.

Well, to each his own. I chucked my centershot and now happily own a few Duplins. I have no problem with cant....just tighten the lever firmly. I've used Centershot, Sinclair, Rempel, and Duplins. The Rempel and Duplins have been my favorites....but the Rempel is too heavy for most F-TR applications.

I have 2 duplin bipods. No problems with either of them. Have you contacted Clint? I'm sure he will help you with your bipod. He's always done right by me. He's also built me 2 very good rifles.
