Dumb question?

Evidently, my wife is not happy I took over the spare bedroom to do my reloading. I have no basement.

How bad of an idea would it be (and is it ok) to move my reloading bench and stuff to a climate controlled self storage unit? Could I even reload in a storage unit?

Please dont be too harsh. It was just an idea.

Noah,

I dont think I could sleep at night with my stuff at a place like that, just me.. May run into "issues" with powder on premisises too. (sp?)

I did alot of moving in yrs past and never had the space to set up either. So I made everything portable and stashible.. I made a press stand much like the wood one you see in Sinclairs (waaay before they did, lol they copied mine) and just kept things in rubbermaid totes. Took it out and used kitchen table for the task at hand. Put it back when done.

I have space now, dont have anything permantly mounted and dont
intend to. I like my condensed, stashable & clean looking methods.

Just another option..

Yeah, you could do it there............. Like Rod I'd be leary about my stuff in a place like that. Powder issues aside a lot of reloading tools now use electricity and most storage units don't have any. The wife may be mad now and not like the idea but if you explained this to her she might give in some. Besides, there's always the garage

I had my stuff in a storage building years ago a few miles from the house. There was a flood and it was all under water. I lost a lot of stuff but thank goodness the boat floated and I had the plug in.

I thought about the garage, but here in Ohio it gets cold in the winter and humid in the summer. No way to control the temp and humidity. That was an idea I thought about as well.

My wife is Italian, its her way or no way.

Almost every garage has an unsued corner. Why not frame up a corner, a little drywall (you don't even need the mud), a small airconditioner and you are good to go. Lacking that, build a real nice insulated garden shed with air and elect. Course then she will want to know were you are all the time. If she wants her room back, that's sounds doable.

I was in your situation for a while. Here in Az it gets too hot to reload in the garage in the summer. I made the legs on my bench shorter so I could turn the bench sideways and slide it into the extra room when she wasn't home and reload in the AC. My GF would bitch beacuse she thought reloading was dirty. Now that room in MINE and she uses the other spare bedroom for her Jewelry and craft making. Just do it little by little and eventually the room WILL be YOURS ;D

First, change your handle to: BadMFNoah

Now that you are a Bad MF, Noah, forget about where to reload for the time being. Reread what you've written, concentrating on the highlighted words and phrases.

Now, change the title of this thread to: MY FREAKIN' SPOUSAL UNIT HAS TAKEN CONTROL OF MY LIFE AND IT'S KILLIN' ME!

I think this is a better place to start, but that's just me.

Yeah... every time I'd post a pic of my bench vise and an AR upper in the action block on my kitchen table, some guy would be like.. "WOW! your wife lets you work on guns in the house?"

I wouldn't last 5 minutes with a broad who couldn't deal with loading and gun stuff as a part of the home decor!
