Dual Scope Review: Burris HD 5-25x50 vs. Trijicon Tenmile 4-24x50

Haven’t done any scope reviews in a while. Usually write them and post pictures but it’s easier to do do videos these days. This one is longer because it covers two scopes.

I’ve had the Trijicon 4-24x50 Tenmile scope in my possession for quite a while now but never used it. Well I had a bunch of cabelas points and needed another scope. Decided to try the newly released Burris HD 5-25x50. When the Burris arrived, I figured why not put it up against the Trijicon to see how it fared since as far as specs for magnification, weight, and size, the two scopes are very similar. End of the story brought to the forefront, the Burris is one hell of an optic and I have no regrets so far. It’s a long video review but I think I was able to cover all the bases on these two great optics. Enjoy.

I have used Burris scopes in the past, non ed and I always thought to myself the glass is good enough. If they would put the ED glass in the 8x40 which I have now I think they may have something good imho, I like my 8x40 with the double ch it's a solid scope

Yeah I bought the XTRII 8-40x F-Class model as well after being so impressed with the Signature 5-25 HD glass. I have seen better glass than the 8-40 on high end target scopes I’ve had in the past like the Kahles K1050 and such, but I honestly have no complaints with the Burris. Mechanics are solid and glass punches way above its price point considering I only paid $700 for the Burris 8-40 brand new from Optics Planet.

The 8-40 picture gets a little darker on 40x power since it’s only a 50mm objective and glass is not HD or ED but it is still a nice sharp picture that is very good and absolutely useable for all target shooting scenarios where top level accuracy and precision is required. I even looked thru a March scope with max power of 60x which I turned down to 40x and thought the Burris glass also on 40x was right there with it. But the new Signature HD 5-25x glass is a step up in quality compared to the 8-40 on the same power settings.

been eyeing this scope for a few months it goes on sale like every 6 wks or couple months,,people don't know what they r missin

Hope they stay on sale till the months end gonna buy one,
Bought the 8-40 this summer in June a couple weeks after writing this review thread and price is still the same. Since it is an exclusive offer thru OpticsPlanet, I think the price might remain the same indefinitely.

I can say with confidence that you won’t beat the F-Class XTRII glass with that mag range at the $700 price point. Next step up would probably be the Vortex Golden Eagle but it’s not much gain in picture quality for double the price. I personally really like the F-Class SFP reticle as well. Nice small dot for precise aiming, but not too small to get lost in shadows or dark colored targets.

Have to watch out when shopping at Optics Planet. Their sales are a joke sometimes. Just checked and they are claiming 11% off for Black Friday deal so I decided I might get another Burris 8-40 F-Class scope only to find they raised the price $100. So after the 11% off it now actually costs more than their regular price I paid for earlier in the year with no sale going on. And their OP bucks store credit for purchases expire after only a few months so that’s a joke too. I had $127 OP bucks saved up on my account. Just found out it expired in October and I don’t have any store credit now. Scumbags...
