DTAC seating depth

I have been shooting the new 105g Hybrids in my 6SLR, but Berger is trying to price itself out of the market. I can get DTACs for 23.9 cents/piece pointed whereas the Hybrids are 31.6 cents/piece. I know I will lose some ballistics with the DTACs due to loss of velocity, but I like to shoot and could use the savings.

So my question is how jump tolerant are the DTACs and where are you loading your DTACs in regards to the lands? (I know each barrel is different, etc, etc). The Hybrids dont seem to care where they are in regards to the lands, I was wondering if the Dtacs were the same.

Thanks for any information in advance.

Very jump tolerant. Try .020" or so. Worked for my 6XC. I don't think you are giving up much - the B.C. for the DTACs is still greater than the 105s. Try the JBM ballistics comp and you should see they are roughly equivalent.

The 105g Hybrids have virtually the same, if not greater, BC than the DTACs; that is why I feel like I will be giving up some ballistics because I can drive the 105 Hybrids faster.

The Dtac's are step up in BC. and the buck the wind better, i feel.As for seating depth i find they shoot the best from the Dashers and SLR at around .010 -.014. Those 115's were trimmed and repointed. They shot very small for me last year and even got a win once in a while and if the Hybrids don't cut it next match i have 2K 115's,i know they work......jim

Any more DTAC shooters out there?

What seating depth seems to work for you.

Tallying what we have so far, two at 20 thous off, one at 10-15 thous.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, I'll be the odd duck here. I've found that in my SLR a jump of .050" is the magic number with the DTAC's. First found this to be true at 300 meters and I was skeptical, but I confirmed it at 1k with the load holding around 1/3 MOA elevation using a scope and bipod. this is a LR Prone rifle that is normally shot with sling & irons so my hold will affect elevation lots more than the load does. I will shoot this load for LR matches this season.

I tested from .010" jam all the way out to .080" jump and all shot pretty well, though .050" was where it really tightened up. If you don't like your results with short jumps, it might be worth your time to try jumping a little farther than the norm.

Just my $.02, your mileage may vary.

Good luck,
Erik
