115gr DTAC RBT Gen 2 problems?

The first version of the RBT DTACs shot incredible for me and several people I know then I noticed worse accuracy and more fliers with the second generation of the RBT DTACs. I know I'm not the only one as I've talked to several DTAC lovers that no longer use them. For those who don't know what I'm talking there are 2 versions of the rebated boattail. Gen 1 being the more abrupt boattail transition Gen 2 being more smooth/curved.

Has anyone on here noticed the lose in accuracy and consistency?

I have never shot a RBT DTAC. Before I ordered my last Competition Match barrel I purchased enough of the pointed 115 DTAC'S for the life of this barrel. My shooting buddy has several thousand of the gen 1 RBT. I'm not sure if he has shot any yet or still shooting the pointed ones. I believe I will not be buying the RBT 115 DTAC if this is the norm. Also if I were in your shoes or your friends I'd be making a phone call and talk to David. Maybe he will see this thread and chime in.

Nobody around here shoots gen 2 RBT DTACs anymore. After I use up the last of my DTACs it looks like I will have to find something else.

Changed to Sierra's 110gr. bullet and haven't looked back, but I don't think I shot any of the 2nd gen bullets.

Wow, now I'm concerned about the barrel's worth of DTAC's that I bought here on the forums this past winter. I've got a couple hundred more from my older boxes before I start into the new ones. Maybe I'll keep them for practice only if they don't shoot.

@Hoser so this is a known issue? Does anyone know if it will be resolved with another revision?

I am not a spectacular shooter or anything, but so far this year I have shot 199's at 1000 with my 6XC with the "old" DTACs, the "new" DTACs, and also the nose ring DTACs. Still chasing that ever-elusive clean string this year. If I had not stumbled upon this thread, I would never have known there was a concern with the "new" DTACs, but if anyone presents some real statistical evidence, I will be interested to review it. Someone smarter and more detail-oriented than me could probably provide better evidence to contradict my rudimentary empirical results. Or maybe I don't see the difference in match scores since I shoot sling as opposed to F-class.

As far as the nose ring bullets, I have only shot a few 20-shot strings with them in competition (back-to-back vs "regular") and have done some limited controlled testing off a bench. One main finding I noted was that, as expected, the velocity at the target (with same powder charge and muzzle velocity) was ~40 fps less with the nose ring bullets. I understand this is due to a slightly lower (but more consistent) BC, so I have no concerns. I did notice some reduction in vertical dispersion, but this might be confirmation bias, so I will need to do more thorough testing before I make any conclusions.

I also noticed that the "new" (not nose ring) DTAC bullet length was longer than the "old" DTAC bullet length, so I had to re-measure distance to lands and adjust my seating depth to avoid going from my previous 10 thousandths jump to the hard jam I would've had if I had not adjusted my seating depth for the new bullets. My particular rifle shoots worse with the bullets jammed, so had I not re-checked seating depth, I may have concluded that the "new" DTACs are not as accurate as the "old" ones. Maybe just my rifle, but hmmmmm.....
