Drying brass after STM tumble

I bought a drillmaster heat gun at Harbor Freight for $7.99. Don't know how long it will last, but it will dry your wet brass in no time. Simply lay the brass on a metal cookie tray in rows so you can direct the air in the mouth of the cases. They dry amazingly fast. Don't overdo it. This thing puts out air so hot I got to wondering about annealing my brass unintentionally.

I just put the cookie sheet in the oven at 325 for 15 min. (can you tell I'm single?)
The very easiest I've found is to have enough brass on hand to just let the freashly cleaned stuff dry overnight without any heat at all.

I drop my annealed brass in water to quick cool, then dump them in a strainer and hit them with a blow dryer for 5 minutes or so while shaking them around. I've tried a heat gun before, but it seems to get them too hot too fast, where as the blow dryer works with both air and a gentler heat. It gets them to the point of being uncomfortable to handle, not blister makers as the heat gun does.

Why not a cookie sheet in a warm oven while you eat a meal. Use the residual heat from cooking and multi-task with a fork at the same time. I have had multiple cookie sheets in the oven at the same time. I clean before and after loading so I spray the cases with lube on the cookie sheets too. Use different cookie sheets for drying and lubing. I have washed cases in the dish washer on heavy wash and sterilize cycle it washes and dries the cases.

This may sound silly... but I place the brass on a rag to get most of the water off.... then run them for 30 in the vibratory tumbler.

They come out great.

I have found that this is the perfect time to run the cases thru my annealer.
A very efficient use of your time, and you get more consistant neck tension
for your long range loads.

Hi Guys, I use our food dehydrated same one we use for jerky. It does a perfect job, not too hot. Merry Christmas to all. Mike

Air compressor with a jet nozzle. A 2-second blast through the primer hole.

Done.

Am I the only one that lays them on a towel in the sun. Fast, easy.

Use a towel to roll the brass briefly, to remove excess water.
Then place in mesh basket/media-brass separator in a thin layer and place over home air duct vent overnight.

If I washed brass in the dishwasher, it would be the one and only time as I would get kicked out of the kitchen for that...

that is just too funny

No, that is the best way, at least in Arizona!!

I put them in the bed of my pickup in summer. But for final drying, I don't want water deposits, so I give them a little Tumbleroonie!

I use a denatured alcohol dip after two water rinses; my well water's really hard so without the alcohol I'd have lime deposits on my cases. After the dip I leave cases in the sun for a few hours, or use a heat gun carefully with cases in my NECO sieve if I'm in hurry. Hot air from underneath dries even .308 cases in about 5 minutes.

I go thru a gallon of alcohol a season this way... likely about the same amount as the drinkable variety I pay a lot more for, sold in smaller quantities.

There was a posting a while back from some guy who had a 70W light bulb in the bottom of an old ammo can and a wire rack above that to hold the brass and a small 120V fan pushing air through the box.

I think he got this idea from the old kiddy easy bake ovens.
