Dry firing and snap caps

Dry fire practice is good , 6.5 CM is a great round , what rifle are you shooting. Snap caps are better then making up dummy rounds for dry fire practice at home . Dummy rounds are good to see if your jerking the trigger at the range , mix in a few dummy rounds with your live rounds , load them up without cheating a look , see if your jerking the trigger . Let's you know if the snap caps are helping . Always practice on your form , very important in good shooting . Are you using your rifle for benchrest or hunting , makes a difference in trigger pressure . Ounces in benchrest Pounds in hunting .

The op stated that he wanted to practice operating the bolt. That is why he needs snap caps. Cycling without them he made end up short stroking the bolt or developing other bad habits. If it is just dry firing, he doesn't need anything.

yes Snap caps are very useful for verifying cycling/ejecting/feeding in a repeater when you're at home. But are not needed for dry firing. I should have added that.

Yeh, making dummies easy. Having something for the firing pin to strike repeatedly, not easy. Hot glue sounds ok. Maybe. How do you feel about pin striking on nothing?

Use RTV silicone; better than hot glue. gived firing pin soft hit; easier in bolt and pin.

Do yall honestly think something like hot glue, erasers or rtv is doing anything except making you feel good? That stuff wont even slow the pin down any little bit. Id like to know the approximate psi that tiny pin falling 1/4” with a 22lb spring behind it actually has. If you can dent it with your fingernail it aint slowing that pin down.
