Drop Tube/ Funnel for 30BR

What's the consensus for getting enough 4198 in a 30BR? Which funnel, drop tube do I want? The slow pour method sounds terrible. I'm too clumsy/ impatient. Thanks!

I'm not having any trouble getting 34.7 grains of H4198 in my BR cases using a Forster funnel. That puts the powder about mid way up the neck. Hope this helps you out.

When I use H4198 in my 20 VT, I have to use a funnel. I took one of my black powder funnels and shortened it to 10". I pour the pan into the funnel and it trickles down to the funnel the case has been inserted into. It does take a little longer doing it this way, but I don't have a mess after I'm through.

I made my own from a piece of acrylic tubing 1/4"id x1/2"od x 18" long that I purchased off Ebay.
I then drilled the bottom to fit over the top of the case neck and attached a 50 bmg alum. funnel to the top.
I'm able to load 35.1 gr. of 4198 and still only have the powder halfway up the neck.

I like the clear tubes also. I made a 12 inch drop tube out of clear acrylic that has a 3/16 ID. Attached a Saturn 30 caliber funnel on the top and a adapter I had from Midway on the bottom. Looks kinda homely but does the job. By the way it,s for a 6PPC. I can drop 30 plus grains in a 6 PPC and still seat the bullet. If you use a clear tube and want to watch the powder go down the tube cut a piece of white paper and put it on about half of the tube so,s you can see the powder go down. Hope this helps.

I just finished 50 case in just a few minutes using the Harrells powder drop with the 10" tube, really don't have to go "that" slow just take your time, just like any other method. ;-)

I use a Sinclair with different inserts. A .17 cal. works great for the .30's.

The ID of an arrow shaft is a little too small. The powder will bunch up as it passes through.

This will work. Just make sure the ID is large enough so the powder doesn't bunch up when running through it.

Then you replace it, we're not talking a lot of money here and if it does the job why keep changing trying to find a "better" method? I use the clear tube and have dropped several thousand round and it's not dark yet.

If it ever does get dark run a pipe cleaner thru it

Yeah, I guess that's possible. When I looked into it, the arrow at the local stores where not a very large diameter.

Are you looking to compact the powder into the cases to jam more in?
