Dream 600 Yard BR rifle.

Why do we dream of a new rifle when we can't utilize the accuracy of the one we have. I have shot my BAT/Leonard rifle for the past ten or so years and it is a great rifle, bu t I sometimes get an itch to try something new. I plan to quit competition after this upcoming year, but if I were going to build a rifle I think I would have the following: Barnard PC action (RBLPRE), Cerus or Shurley bros lowrider wooden stock, Lederer 4-groove 8-twist HV barrel, 28 inches long, Bix and Andy trigger, and topped with a Valdada 40 mm Terminator. I would chamber it for the 6mm BRA. My choices are items that I have not used but would love to. The picture below is my old BAT. It is a great rifle that has had a tungsten "doughnut" added to the firing pin and has had a DS type roller tail piece to make cocking easier. What is you dream rifle? Good shooting....James

I’m shooting a BAT and Stolle at the moment which I have no gripes with at all but if I were building another rifle right now I’d like to try the new BAT Neuvo, B&A trigger, Wheeler/McMillan LRB Stock 4” front, Kahles 10-60, Kreiger HV 4 groove 29” chambered in straight BR/BRA and BRX. Just gotta work out a way to squeeze 10k past the wife and I’m good!!

I'd have to have a borden brm rblpbe, Krieger 1/8, alex's stock(with alex doing the work) 6bra, bixnandy, and a kahles scope!! to be truthful, I have a rebel rblpbe, Alex's stock(he did all the work), jewell trigger, Krieger 1-8 twist with a vortex ge scope.. got one of Jon lohs rest with Edgewood bags all around. its the nicest setup I have ever had!!!! and I LOVE shooting it. just trying HARD to get that magical .5-.75 inch group at 600. trying hard(I'm gonna get it):D. good day to all

I think after we get the dream set up dialed in and proven and after time the need arises for another challenge. I seem to have a need for building something new and figuring it out. Once that is met I look for another one. I know it is an addiction and my personality that drives me for perfection. I started at 25,50 bullseye pistol to ARA, to short bench rest to 600 F Class. This year heading into 1000 F Class to learn. Never hurts to dream.

I looked at the Barnard action features and changed my mind. The action is too heavy, and the accessories are harder to get. Also, the trigger that comes with the Mod. P is a little heavier than I prefer. I guess that a BAT will remain my preferred action. Let me say that there are a couple of Barnards at our matches and they are VERY accurate. I guess that when one has limited finances, he/she should not "dream" about expensive toys. Good shooting...James

James, not all actions are created equal. Im talking about within the same model. A lot of it is in the ignition, but theres more to it than that. If you have an action that has shot really well for you with multiple barrels, you do NOT replace it. ;)
My BAT is very old and pre-dates their CNC equipment. I have updated the action somewhat with a DS type roller and a Tungsten weight and new spring. This, I believe has improved the ignition.
