Douglas Barrels? Thoughts Please.

Have a 308 that needs a new barrel--this gun will be used for hunting and some steel shooting--
Found a Douglas #7 contour SS barrel for a reasonable price--this is a 1-10 twist barrel
Looking for folks thoughts on the quality of Douglas barrels vs other name brands--I've looked for reviews but cannot find anything current.
Keeping in mind this gun will not be shot a lot and is 25 years old already--and I hope to keep this project at a modest budget.

I have had three guns barreled with Douglas barrels at different points in time and different calibers. All shot very well. They may not get BR performance but they are way beyond adequate for any hunting rifle. I believe they are the standard barrel on NULA rifles and they shoot very well indeed.

I have seen a lot of them shoot good in 1000 yard BR. The last couple of years they are making some good barrels. Ask Stan Taylor from stansrifles on this forum. Matt

They make good barrels and are easy to deal with.

I remember 40 plus years ago, a Douglas barrel was the basis of many custom rifle builds.

I have a 30cal Douglas barrel that I am working with for next season and it is very well made and the accuracy is impressing me every time I shoot it. I believe it is just as good as any barrel out there.

All I've shot plus those of other shot as good as anything else. In the end though, fitting and the load development is paramount....HTH

For the money, one great buy. I have three of their barrels and they shoot great. Not a top of the line cut rifle barrel, but they do not cost as much as one of those. I think you will be satisfied. Using one on my 1000 yard gun and very satisfied.

Buy the Douglas....good barrel especially for your stated use.

i have used 4 douglas bbl never had a bad one all cals. .22 .17 .6mm 30/06 very good accuracy
