doughlas 22 barrel for anschutz

i have an 1813 anschtz that i bought used(probably a club gun since it was imported from britain)well the firing pin spring i have to replace due to light "strike"
so im thingking off replacing the barrel (groups were not bad but not for metric target) i know of someone who is selling a doughlas XXX 22lr barrel,so will appreciate any feed back

douglas makes great barrels, but i think lilja might have the edge on .22lr. they make a 2 groove barrel with squeeze at the end, of which i hear is an excellant barrel

cmillard - do you mean benchmark?

most of the popular button rifled barrels (shilen, hart, broughton, benchmark, lilja) do quite well on rimfires. a great deal depends on what methods were used to finish the barrel blank. Was the blank slugged to determine the proper place for crown and chamber? If the barrel was (re)contoured after lapping it is much less likely to shoot well.

I have a 1413 (1963) that was imported from a club in Britain. It shot fine (.7" at 100 yards), but I rebarreled it anyway (lilja) and its <.5" now.

what ammo did you use,im not a bench rest shooter im planning to use it for 3p-prone practice for hp,i apreciate any feed back but it will really be special from somebody who actually used a doughlas

sorry--benchmark is the one i was after--but lilja does make a good barrel.

Right now Hart rifle barrels is making barrels for the USA olympic biathelon team Does that tell you anything about their quality/?

I use eley black for 50 and 100 meter competition - I'm not a benchrest shooter either. In fact, 90% of my smallbore shooting is indoor 3P at 50 feet...

lilja (drop in!) barrels have been used to great effect by matthew and katie emmons. Also, the Swiss rifle maker Bleiker is using lilja barrels on their rimfire actions.

If I could get anything right now I'd try a benchmark (2 or 3 groove) or a broughton 5C, but thats simply because Ive never used either and I'm curious. Its hard to go wrong with barrels these days.
