Not surprising, we kill cattle and hogs with a 22RF prior to butchering. And many a deer has fallen to a well placed 22RF for the food supply.

Dead right there, no movement whatsoever from where they were standing, tail twitch or the tail just going in a circle or straight up is fine. , no scuttling away a foot or so, no crawling away, the gent above was spot on.Shots like shown below will get the drt results.

The .22 is a very under estimated killing round even at 100 yards. Well placed bullets at 100 yards on coyotes and smaller get it done. I prefer the Bigger case smaller bullet from the HMR better but that's another thread. I still love the accurate little .22 RF round.

Yes sir especially over bait, no noise and dead coyotes, here's a hog killed with the 22 , this was a huge male #1 prime that went to a taxidermist, check the skull out where he got slammed.as well as another victim head shot. Shown also a most devastating subsonic round , very hard to come by but has never failed me.Ear shot 75 yards drt

I have a couple boxes of Eley Black box 22RF match ammo. Half the group size of anything else I shot. Expensive if you can find it. I saw some American name brand 22RF marked Match a couple years ago I never tried it. About 20 years ago I was helping a friend slaughter 2 pigs around 150-200 pounds. One shot with a 22RF between the eyes and they never moved an inch.

Problem is, barrels will like what they like, and hate a lot of different types. Trial and error is the key! RWS makes a fantastic sub sonic HP!

I've seen 22LR and 22 Win Mag used in areas where report can be an issue.

FWIW, I’d not take that shot for fear of a non-humane shot (not against killing yotes, just against them suffering) BUT….. at my old house on a bayou that backed up to a couple hundred acres of woods south of Houston I almost always shot hogs with a 22… I wanted those foul creatures to run off into the woods to die… The yotes and buzzards have to eat too…
