Dogs who do amazing things

I had three dogs die within a week of Christmas 2017. They were old and two had congestive heart failure and one had a brain tumor. It was a tough time. Even though I've had a dozen, or more, dogs in my life, I swore I was never going to get another. Then, about 6 months later, I found myself pulling into the parking lot of one of the local shelters, and an hour later, I owned another dog. She had been seriously mistreated in her former life, and even now, 7 months later is kind of skittish around people. Very sweet little dog, she loves to sleep on my paralyzed wife's hospital type bed or sit in my recliner with me in those rare moments when I get to sit down.

And I must pay tribute to dear friends that have gone on to the happy hunting grounds. I will see them again - all of them. Hope dog food is cheap in heaven
Here is a pics of just a few of them.
My little buddy Pete. Lived to 13 years. Loved him very much.

Belle, my Llewellin setter - with her first grouse at 6 months of age. Took suddenly from us at 9 years old from unknown causes.

Other notables are Lady the Brittiany, Molly the feist and Cherokee the Mountain feist. All great friends, all mourned.

Thanks, Clunker, for starting this thread. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone’s posts and looking at the pictures. Here’s a pic of two of my favorite knuckleheads: Big Ben and Cooper. If you can’t have a good time when these two are around, you’re not trying!

This week..... weather was nasty single digit with 30+ mph wind. Me and shopdog went for a 2 hr hunt/hike,keeping down in a river bttm and off the crests and ridges.

She's been a real good buddy dog. Will lay beside me while using equipment in the shop. Shop noise and reasonable gun fire just aren't upsetting to her. Grab a rifle and she goes into "happy dance".

Here are our two clowns - Panda and Dodger. Both are English Bull Terriers and both are rescues. A great breed, but stubborn as the day is long. They put smiles on our faces every day...

We had a rescue dog like that. For the first 6 months, there was no way she would let anyone touch her while she was outside. Inside, it depended on her mood if you could touch her. About a year in, our granddaughter was born and we did a lot of baby sitting while her mom completed her school. Fruitcake would watch Madi while she took her naps and would come get our attention at the first sign of movement.
After that, Fruitcake became a somewhat normal dog. My FIL was in a nursing home for a while and the staff let her visit him. One day as we was leaving, she turned into a lady's room down the hall. She just had to visit the lady. After about 20 minutes we finally left.
The next day, my wife took her back to visit and Fruitcake turned into the lady's room but nobody was there. We inquired about the lady and discovered that the lady had passed during the night. It was almost like Fruitcake knew.
She was "special" in so many ways.
