Does anyone have a .22lr match rifle w/ aperture sights and scope mount?

I want to get back in shooting CMP/NRA smallbore and possibly PRS/NRL. I am wondering if it is possible to do both with same rifle. Anyone out there have a set up like this?

I have a scope rail (I think EGW) and mounts for target sights on my 52D, so yes it can be done. I'm sure other rifles would work too.

What is your budget? A good set of aperture sights and a nice scope, alone, are worth over $1k.

My 40X came with a Unertl externally adjustable scope mounted on blocks and Redfield International sights.
So, yes it was easy to go back and forth.

How long a barrel is favoured in PRS? If it's towards the 20in mark, or shorter, a sight extension "bloop" tube would help focus and scores with apertures. A clamp-on tube would be preferable for holding zero over a screw-on.

Beyond that, switching from apertures to a 'scope is not an issue.

One other thought, make sure the chosen action can be single loaded easily from the shoulder. You won't have time to faff about removing the magazine and loading one cartridge for 20 scoring shots and sighters.

Combining all of those disciplines in the use of one rifle, would most likely require a compromise in the rifle configuration, for each.. Might be dependent on how serious you want to get about each discipline...

I do. I shoot NRA Prone, with a Feinwerkbau 2700 Alu, Centra aperture sights, and on any sight matches, I use an Anschutz Sight Rail (ASR) to mount my Leupold Competition 40x scope. It works well.

I don't see a cz model with heavy barrel and target aperture sights.

Sporter barrel and open sights, yes.

At the low end there is the savage mark II fvt.
Throw that in an at1 and you'd have a starter rifle for both.
Still no bottom rail for a smallbore hand stop or any of the various gear for prs.
But for the savage price having 2 separate guns is pretty affordable.
Mark I for easier single loading in SB plus mark ii(or cz) in chassis with mag for prs.

Most smallbore match rifles are gonna let you put on a scope because any/any is a thing.
Very few are going to let you use a magazine for the prs.
The 'T' bottom rail used for smallbore is probably going to be a pain for all the prs accessories that are built for a different rail system.

At the high end I don't see it working. 2 multi-thousand dollar guns that are ideal vs one more-multi-thousand dollar gun with compromises.

Maybe something in the Anschutz 17 series? Contact ANA?

Maybe a semi-custom vudu build?

That depends on the rifle. My 1885 Winchester by Miroku has both a tang sight and a Malcolm sight mounted so I don't see any problem on mine~!

The "can't do both with one rifle" comment was sbout the differing rifle specs between each discipline, not about having both sights on the same rifle at once. At least that's how I read the post.

Using a smallbore rifle with both irons and scope has been done at least since the inception of bolt action rimfire rifles. Most registered smallbore prone matches (and some Approved ones) have required the shooter to shoot both. So older rifles such as the Win. 52 and Anschutz 54 came capable of using both aperature and scope sights. If I were looking to use a rifle for both disciplines, I would look for a Win. 52C model (it's essentially the same as a D, but a repeater), buy a single shot adapter for prone and make sure it has a stock & rail that would work for both disciplines. As it came from Winchester, the trigger is a little heavy for prone, but it can be altered to allow a down to 4-6 oz. when desired.

When you add the PRS/NRL into the mix, you are going to need something that takes mags. And decent mags at that. Savage and Anschutz 10 round mags are not the best.
