Does any one know anything about this receiver??

I guess I need to know more than that-----like who makes it? and where do they do that.
And that is just for starters.

Thanks for that link, Ken. I guess if they let a rifle like that out of the shop, one probably doesn't want much to do w/ just the receiver. I do wonder though, if it is made 'in house'.
Thanks,

I would call Dan Killough at Killough Shooting Sports. He shows the 10X action for sale on his site. As deeply involved in .22 LR bench rest as he is, I can't imagine that he would sell junk. Dan will give you the straight skinny on that action. Dan's number is 325-754-5771.

Hi Jim,

I will 2nd Cort's comment's. Dan Killough and his guys, are very knowledgebale, helpful and are "straight shooters' in the sense of their words and products. Dan will tell you the pluses and minuses of anything you ask of him. I and several of my shooting friends have been buying from Dan for years and following his advice because of his reliability and overall knowledge. He's also very hospitable if you drive by his place in Texas. A guy you definitely want to get to know if you are into the rimfire scene as well as competition shooting.

Cort and Shynloco, thanks for that reference. I will check it out.
Alex, hope that brass is working out for you.

Quite a few 22lr benchrest guns built with the 10-Xlll action and are in use by some of the very top shooters. Some have said they may need a very slight tweaking in a couple of areas but you can't go wrong with one of them and a good smith.

The guys at 10X hosted myself and a few other vets for the VBR silhouette shoot in PA last year. Awesome group of guys, and an amazing action. All made in house, and I got to shoot some of their guns, and let me tell you, the .22 with that action in it, was an absolute tack driver with eley and wolf match ammo. And even with some junk 22 ammo we picked up. Great guys to deal with, and great craftsmanship.. and ITS BUILT RIGHT HERE IN THE USA!! what more could you want.

IMHO, and not because of the treatment we got from them, you honestly can't go wrong at all with their stuff. All their guns shot ragged holes in my hands, and I'm only a decent shot at best.

I live in northcentral pa and own walts custom guns...I have been building custom guns for 15 years and have a few customers on the Olympic devolpmental team and bulld all guns from 1911,ar15,ar10,ppc pistols, and all different types of benchrest rifles...I myself have had more than a few customers bring 10x guns to me to be fixed and made right for some reason they let guns go to customers with all kinds of problems that I would rather not mention and say bad things about them....I am just posting this to let you know you are not the first to receive a poor quality product from team 10x...

I guess one's experience on what you see on the firing line will say something about the product.

For benchrest, there are some shooters that have bought the action and had their gunsmith make the rest of the rifle and/or correct any manufacturing errors.

In smallbore prone and 3 position, these guns and actions are essentially non-existent. I have seen 3, one of which was a custom gun built for a national champion for sales and marketing purposes. That one received some "special" attention during manufacture.

As to the other two (2), one person received a full refund from the manufacturer and the other one is the link posted above.

Sad situation, as it would have been nice to have a US manufacturer for a smallbore prone / position rifle, but money is better spent on Anschutz, Walther or Feinwerkbau.

Man am I glad I read this thread. I have a rimfire barrel & am doing research on actions. Cross 10X off the list. For that kind of jingo, I want a precision made product, not something I have to "tweak".

Howard

Didnt you end up 5th Master at Camp Perry in the Prone National Championship? Im pretty sure I saw you on the line with your 10X action. 4785-354X's/4800. Three points down from some guy Named Kevin Nevius...

The 10X actions are great. I think the problem was with the gunsmith that put that rifle together. I have shot some awesome groups with my 10X.
Howard

The rifles in the link and the one returned for a full refund were both made complete by 10x.....

The H in Hpitts = Hammer.... ;)

I believe I asked you what brand of barrel you have on your 10X Action, It has slipped my mind however.
Been looking at 2 groove Benchmarks lately.
