I bought a 10X-III built by D. Mulluer of Rock Creek. I bought it to shoot PSL/ARA and the new F-Class prone. The rifle place fifth at the Barn last year amount many "Calfee" rifles, which some, consider the very best. Like any good, custom build, the gunsmith makes the build, as well as the components. The action did need a little attention from factory, but so do Turbos, Halls, Annie's, or any of the rest of them.
I'm VERY pleased with my 10X-III action. The only problem I have is the pin that holds the bolt release will creep its way out the top every now and then. I've been to lazy to pull the action and put a drop of loc-tite on it. As for accuracy....it's like ANY 22...must find right ammo. At the barn, it really like machine 4 ammo. I've found that out doors, at 100 yards, it shoots machine 6 black box, lights out...as in groups in the .3xx's.
Don't be afraid of the action....just have a GOOD gunsmith(Howard does great work!!! I did not know he was into 22's) built the gun and you'll be very happy.
I've NEVER seen a shooting sport that carries and creates more Hype/hystery than 22 rimfire benchrest/PSL/ARA. Calfee, Gorham, Mulleur, etc..there are lots of great builders out there, and ANY straight, true gun can win. It's ALL, let me say that again, ALL about getting a good lot of ammo...and that's another story in itself, especially today. Go for the 10X-III and have fun.
