Wylde will shoot 556 fine… has a slightly longer tighter throat and different leade angle. CLE has shorter throat.

Why is that?Avoid Ranier if at all possible.
read my post at the further downSo, it's completely safe to fire ammo loaded to 556 pressures in a SAAMI chamber?
This exactly what I used a Wylde for in my sons service rifle. We shoot a 80g SMK for 600 yard competition. Shoots fantastic if he does his part.so one more time
(bill) Wylde designed a chamber reamer for the m/16/ar15 for cmp dcm competition shooting.
where ammo was single loaded long (80 gr sie at 2.45x oal) for 600 yd target shooting. a regular chamber will not do this. the design allows cmp/dcm accuracy with lighter shorter rounds that are shot at 200/300 yards.
someone pin this to the very top

OP, you state your purpose is "16" AR-15 with a LPVO optic 1x8 that I plan to use for drills for a course of fire and some marksman type shooting from a bench or bipod I see myself using 55gr 223 projectiles that i'll be handloading in bulk."
If that's the case, 5.56, Wylde, or CLE would be fine. I have a personal preference for CLE, especially for mag fed ammo. BUT then again, 223 seems to be awfully jump tolerant so the theory of shorter CLE throat for mag ammo may not really matter for 55 gr.
Yeah. A gunsmith special from Green Mountain finished by CLE is a great! deal.223 CLE is a great from the magazine chamber. My most accurate AR is a Green Mountain blank spun up by CLE with their chamber. That said 223 Wylde always shoots great in a good barrel. YMMV
I have been through it a couple weeks ago over 223rem Vs 223 wylde. Lots and lots of people think the ONLY difference is the freebore. WRONGAmazed at the misinformation in this thread.

I have a wilson combat 20” heavy barrel. It shoots everything well. From 45gr Winchesters to 69smk factory rounds. Wilson makes good onesThanks for that response. In my head I'm trying to justify the difference between the two. The Rainier arms in 223 Wylde is $100.00 more for marginal performance difference at best. But you've helped clear the air on this.
