The above is one of the reasons that I prefer to pay for purchases with personal checks. the seller can deposit the check and after it has cleared, send the product. With today's banking system, checks can clear in one day. If there is a problem with the seller, I have a copy of the endorsed check. If the seller decides not to sell, the check can either be trashed or returned to me for voiding. I have heard arguments regarding retraction of funds made by personal check; but the arguments are errant since they are based on retraction of funds made to reduce assets in bankruptcy cases, which is a completely separate issue and would apply to any sort of payment.
