Do you have a Springfield Prodigy?

I've been thinking of getting a Springfield Prodigy DS and wondering what you think of it? What barrel length does yours have?

I don't have one but a co-worker bought one last summer with the 4.25" barrel. Since we live in WA State it shipped with 10rd magazines. These mags didn't fit well and caused numerous stoppages/malfunctions. The ejector broke within 300 rds of firing ball ammo and I believe this was caused by the poorly fit mags.
SA sent a new ejector and once that was installed and new magazines were used it ran just fine.

Bought a new one a couple months ago.
Very happy with it so far. Only have 100+ or so rounds down it. (been working on another project)
4.25 inch comp'd barrel.
The 10 round mags I have seem to work fine.
I'm in a restricted state of 15 rounds, bought the Staccato 126mm 15 round mags and they are working
ok so far.
I like the double stack grip better than a single stack.
Down the road, going to get a trigger job done it. Would like it down to 3-3.5 lb.

I do, it's a 5" with several 1000 124 coated down the pipe w/o a hiccup.

Imma fan....

This one might be worth a look. The price is nice.

Looks like it has a bushing barrel. I would want a bull barrel on this type of gun.

I have a 5" that I did lots of upgrades too. Runs likes a Swiss watch, stupid accurate, couldn't be happier. All in around $2500

Over 5000rd through it, not a single issue

What do you feel you gain with the aluminum grip?
Never held one. See a lot of them out there.

The feeling in the hand is amazing, such positive grip and fit and the extra weight just make the entire gun feel complete. Nothing wrong with the plastic grip but no comparison to the metal one.

I also see Warwick tool makes a metal grip for the prodigy now

I had a 5" for a while put close to 1k rounds through it before i let it go. Didnt have any issues with it. Currently have a staccato p, stealth arms platypus and a mc9 ds comp. The mac or platypus are ones to consider if looking in that price range. The prodigys have a lot of mim parts where the otherz do not. The platypus takes glock mags and if you have smaller hands the grip is a bit slimmer.

I had a Prodigy a bit over a year ago and was enjoying it. Only complaint was the red dot that came with it got dirty very quickly due to the loaded round indicator slot.

I got unlucky with a bad batch of factory ammo that must have had a double charge, and it pretty much destroyed the pistol. Fortunately no injury and the ammo company did the right thing and sent me a check for the purchase cost of the pistol.

I’ve been thinking about replacing it, but 2nd time around I’m considering going with either a Tisas equivalent or a single stack 9mm 1911. I don’t really need the extra capacity for how I shoot, and frankly I wonder if the Prodigy is worth the extra cost over a Turkish model as a range toy. I’d probably be doing different math if I was planning to carry it though.
