Do you ever......

Got four safes full of guns that I got "bored" with. Always looking for the next one. Can't bring myself to sell the old ones. Every once in awhile I'll pull out one just to see if she still groups.
I thought about selling one of my Tikka 595 Continentals in 22-250. You know....who needs 2 of the same gun? I took them to the range last Friday to see which one shot better. They both shot little clover leafs. I decided to keep both.;)

Many years ago, I had an older member at the club tell me something. He said, I’ve sold 2 guns in my life, and now I regret selling both of them. I have a good collection of ones that haven’t been used for years. I parted ways with a bunch not long ago. I’m telling myself that I didn’t sell them, I rehomed them to other places so that someone else can have a chance to appreciate them.

Buy a gun, trick it out just the way you want it, lose interest and sell it?

I just recently bought my first AR15. I have it exactly how I think I want it and now am over it all together. It is just not my thing.
Remember the AR 15 is modular...before you sell make sure you just don't need to...change calibers... long barrel, short barrel, go silent with a can in 300 Blkout or ...17 Rem to 50 Beowulf, mice to monsters in an AR 15 platform ...should be something of interest...just get a few new parts to add to your existing collection. You could even go 22LR for cheap plinking ...

I've sold 3 guns in my lifetime. Colt Govt. Model 70 in .45. A Colt Mini 14 in .223 and a Colt Automatic .32 pistol. These were gained from my mother's divorce (not my father) and I would love to still have them, but they were not hand me down guns. The guns that I will never part with are worth far less money. .22LR Rossi pump, Remington Sportsman 58 12 ga., Savage 99c .243 and Win. 62(A)? single shot .22. Those will never get sold by me. Anything I've bought since those originals don't really matter to me, but I don't plan to sell a gun just to buy another one. Guess I'll work a little more and see how that works out.

just for clarification, i am a bolt action, precision kind of guy. I will be replacing the AR with a bolt gun in some form of .22 caliber.

The way things are going, you might not be able to buy another AR in the future.

Been there done that many times. As far as ARs go they were never my thing, tricked out a couple 20 years ago and they just sat. My interest got tickled again a couple years ago and this time I bought everything I need to build my own. Thats been a more enjoyable road, even deepened my interest. Built 3 223 wlydes and then built 3 300 blackouts. The blackouts get more use just because shooting a blackout with heavy bullets, subsonic is a hoot and my wife and daughters love it too. That led to building a short range here on the place with lots of steel and reset targets. The sheer number of AR parts available is mind boggling, your only limited by your imagination. Fun!

The whole gun fever thing has been cyclical for me. There’s been a few platforms I tried and lost interest, never rekindled interest either and there’s those that have come and gone. Lever guns, 45 colt single action, tricked out 10/22s, long range bolt rimfire, old vintage rifles, historical firearms, wing shooting, clays, etc etc. It’s part of the fun in my opinion. There have been many I regret selling and many I was glad to see go.

I build lego rifles. Sometimes I do this, and sometimes I do
that. And I always have a parts bin handy to build on a whim.
Have another MDT Oryx chassis on the bench getting mauled
by allen wrench's......It's winter, so I'm building !! Doing a little
fit up before cleanup......As for the AR's ?? I have two Rock River's.
One's for when things get serious, and the other is for when
things really get serious.....
