dang it!You bet! I found out in 2004 when I took a 45 ACP slug right between the eyes at 20yds. I picked out copper jacket fragments for 6 months. My plates had holes in them.

A true AP bullet, not a penetrator, copper, etc. will penetrate. I one ran a .30 165 black tip AP at 3500 in 300RUM and it went right through half inch AR 500 at 100yds. Found the stripped jacket and the tungsten core is probably still going.Speed is probably the key to making divits in AR 500 steel ...the 17 Remington at 4800 fps with a tiny 15.5 gr copper bullet was tryed once to see if it would... it did, with only 15.5 grs. left a nice digit in the AR 500. Should try the 50BMG with Armor piercing...but I didn't want to mess up the AR 500 steel for science...but it does penetrate alot of mild steel with 265 gr of US 869.
4x,Someone put 6 deep pock marks with big "pimples" on the back side and and 1 pass through on my 600 yard 3/8ths ar500. What can you do??
Why not?I load barnes for my wife's 6.5x55 for deer. I load them as fast as is safe concurrent with acceptable accuracy. I don't see I have any choice as she won't hunt with a lead core bullet.
Lead fragments in meat and entrails possibly affecting us and species who s a ante the gut piles. Her choice and a logical one. So far Barnes bullets have performed admirably. Why not?
