DO NOT use Hand sanitzer as case lube

FORUM BOSS: Do NOT USE Hand Sanitizer for a CASE LUBE. NEVER EVER. This can result in stuck cases.

LINK to Making your own lube: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2020/03/cheap-tricks-make-your-own-case-lube-with-lanolin/

I have very good results with Ballistol Spray Lube on smaller (6BR size) case. Clean, wipes right off. When use right after shooting, the same Ballistol will remove carbon on outside of necks. But apply again later before sizing.

Can hand sanitizer be converted to case lube since it already has active ingredient 70% ethyl alcohol, inactive ingredients:glycerin, hydrogen peroxide, diethanolamine, polyacrylate crosspolymer??
Store selling 16oz bottle for 25 cents reg price $5.24.

I use RCBS case lube. On their pad. The pad wore out before I was out of lube.
I never kept records but I think I'm on my 3rd bottle in at least 15 years' I also don't know how many cases I've lubed in 15 years. But I'm not a casual shooter and on the same hand I won't compare to some folks on the site who reload more in a month than I do in a year.
Point is it's nice to use a product that was made for that particular purpose. I'm not getting a case stuck because I may have saved $5 dollars over 5 years using an off label product.

Why reinvent the wheel? A tin of Imperial Sizing Wax does an outstanding job if applied correctly and lasts a long - long - long time. I reload approximately 1,000 to 1,500 center fire rifle cases a year and a tin of Imperial lasts me about 5+ years.

PS: Never had a "stuck" case using Imperial.

I use the Heet in the red bottle. I believe the higher the alcohol content the better the lanolin mixture works. 12-1 ratio with the mixture. That said, Imperial Wax is really hard to beat. I use the lanolin for large lots of brass. I don’t think the hand sanitizer carry’s strong enough alcohol.

On tough resizing and forming, the Lee Sizing wax in the tooth paste tube beats Imperial hands down.
It sure does.

Another good one that I got from a old guy that is gone now is 50-50 anhydrous lanolin and vaseline melted together double boiler. A spoonfull of each melted together goes a long way.

Cases are a buck to a buck and a quarter each so I'm not going to risk them to questionable lube.

Doesn't sound too good as a case lube with out adding some thing oily. But maybe to clean barrels????

The ethyl alcohol being used in todays hand sanitizers is usually from distilleries and smells like rotten booze. You probably dont want to be anywhere near it unless it's an emergency.
