DO NOT use Hand sanitzer as case lube

Hornady one shot has doubled in price ...
Might be a good idea to make you own lube nowadays.

Can hand sanitizer be converted to case lube since it already has active ingredient 70% ethyl alcohol, inactive ingredients:glycerin, hydrogen peroxide, diethanolamine, polyacrylate crosspolymer??
Store selling 16oz bottle for 25 cents reg price $5.24.
Why does everyone want to make lubing cases compicated. If you use hand sanitizer and it worked you would have to wait until thhe alcohol evaporated before you could size. Why would you want the main ingredient 70% to be useless solvent? If you freeze one case in a die you will wish you never tried it. I use the worlds best lube. A petroleum oil based lube. About five years ago I bought a quart of petroleum based hydrualic fluid at AutoZone for about $8. It's a light viscosity. A quart will last several lfe times. Oil has been the universal lube for equiptment for over 100 years. I can wipe clean about 8-10 cases a minute with a paper towel. Oil has a very good film strength (seperation between 2 surfaces).

I would never use hand sanitizer for case lube. Ever. Ever. Are your hands slippery after you use sanitizer.

I make my own Dillon style lube with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and Liquid Lanolin. I bought a case of each a few years ago and still have enough to last another 5 years. Although the alcohol has probaby evaporated to somewhere around 90% by now.
The cases tumble clean in corncob in two hours.

You WILL stick a case by substituting hand sanitizer for lube. No doubts at all. Even when using lanolin based lubes I can stick a case by running it in wet. Too many other options for sizing lubricants.

With the initial outbreak and supply shortages, I really appreciated the "Marginal" Distilleries who quickly reallocated their production from "fine spirits" to hand sanitizer. Don't get me wrong it was nice to have 2-4 different local distilleries, which I had never heard of, sacrifice their business model and begin production of Scented Hand Sanitizer.... popular flavors were Tequila, Gin, and Bourbon.

These products forced me to become a better driver. There would have been No Way to rationally talk yourself out of a DWI Citation based on the overpowering smell.

Why reinvent the wheel? A tin of Imperial Sizing Wax does an outstanding job if applied correctly and lasts a long - long - long time. I reload approximately 1,000 to 1,500 center fire rifle cases a year and a tin of Imperial lasts me about 5+ years.

PS: Never had a "stuck" case using Imperial.
I think the Hornady wax might be an improvement on the imperial wax. Super slick and easy to wipe off.

I can’t even believe we’re discussing this!.....case lube has to be the cheapest aspect of reloading ammunition!.... I’m on the same can of imperial that I have been using for several years.

If you start with something like Hornady One Shot spray or Royal spray lube, it becomes much less cheap.

Eventually, most people migrate to something more cost effective (alcohol + lanolin homebrew, or Imperial wax.)

I think the best case lube is case lube.I get a good laugh at guys who try to substitute a product that is meant for their use with some concoction that isn't.The number of concoctions for cleaning brass that I've read about is ridiculous,as is trying to get around inexpensive case lube.Stick one case and you'll offset any money you saved.

I haven’t ever used Royal lube but have sized thousands upon thousands with one shot with no issues and as I recall it was like 8 bucks a can it’s probably more now I don’t know but that 8 bucks would do several thousand cases to me that’s cheap but to each his own, I’m to lazy or have better things to do with my time than make up some alcohol concoction. When doing small amounts or my competition cases I only use imperial if doing large lots of plinking ammo they get one shot, just how I do it but if others want to use water n sand for lube to save a few cents I’m not gonna stop ya good luck

I use One Shot, 50 pieces in the tray, spray one side from a about a 45° angle, rotate the tray and repeat. The cases are dry by the time I return to the bench from putting the One Shot away. Simple and works for me.

The chemical plant I work at made a bunch of hand sanitizer last year when this stuff started and donated it to Dr.'s offices, clinics, banks, pharmacy's and such. They also gave it to the employees so I have a good supply, but it's nothing I want make case lube out of. My time is better used doing other stuff.
