Thats the look of wood I like
Dark and Chocolatey, with some Fudge swirls, lots of character and contrast in the grain to make it pop

I'm not much into wood stocks and laminates unless the wood is appealing enough and has enough character
, but I did like that one

When it has a open grain structure as your stock does and the one I posted the lighter soft grain pulls the dye in like a sponge. Pretty cool stuff!!
Darker colors don't pop like the lighter ones do.
I have a wenge and maple Dima coming that im going to isolate the maple and dye the wenge black, making a black and white stock.

We are at the sealing stage for this one, that will be done tomorrow. Will final sand and clear over the weekend.

Not to rain on the project, but the bottom of the butt to the heel doesn’t look straight to me. Is it straight? I’d check it before finishing.

Not raining here…
What you are seeing there is the plate for the RAD system, I didn’t have my fine belt on belt sander to polish and true it up, had the course belt. Will true it square to the toe, heel is the top, after I have sealer and 3 coats of clear applied.
Also the butt pad has a cant in it for comfort.
It’s straight.. Lighting is not the best either..

A little resurrection....
Epoxied tang where CF was delaminated and split
Transfer bolt handle slot to left side from right side, filled rt side.
Extend rt side ejection port to match left side loading port making it a left bolt rt load,left eject.
The Dima in the back is next.

Dima modification....tools used, templates made with 1.5" tapenow to tear it down and strip the old finish.
