Hi Kim! Yup! Posted back on page 69? I’ll cut the butts of a few blanks on the duplicator before I migrate to Texas. I focus more on hunter style down here. It saves a bunch of time. I thought about buying another duplicator but I’m cheap and I don’t really have the room.hi Josh- my question is did you cut that buttstock with a duplicator ect ?? your work keeps getting better— mabie i need to start another stock now![]()

I copy a Tikka Hunter stock because I like the lines and form. I did a few 40x too.
I like the short 3 inch forearm , looks easer to make weight .Come a long ways…
Wasted some good wood learning.
From left to right the first 3 were learning curves. Actually took 6 tries to get it right.

I didn’t use any dye on that stock. The analine dyes that Bc’z turned me on to work great for accenting grain patterns. I mix them with alcohol instead of water. It dries faster. Apply the dye and sand it. The dye will stay in deeper grain. What ( is any) type of dye did u use to highlife the darker figure in the stock?
I have a walnut stock that I would like to enhance those darker grains in the wood.

If you want to use an oil or catalyzed oil finish, rottenstone powder works nicely as a grain filler in walnut. What ( is any) type of dye did u use to highlife the darker figure in the stock?

Yes the Winge is really bad from what I’ve read. My wood supplier told me that sanding and inhaling the dust is far worse than anything else.Very nice. I’ve used some of the heavier exotics. Watch out for Epe. The toxic dust got me bad.
I know this is a dumb question but i didnt see the inlets at first—-very nice work—One more thing… fresh off the mill tooling marks need 160 grit…
