Do all bore cleaner

Looking down the muzzle or breech at bright shiny rifling doesn't mean a thing...in terms of really knowing whether or not you have a clean bore, you have to have a borescope. I am always amazed at people when they talk about how well a product works or how clean their bores are when they do not own/have access to a borescope.
I own one and I have tried everything made...if you really want to get ALL the copper out and not take several days then there is only one...JB Bore Cleaner. There are solvents that will do it, but none that will do it as fast as JB. I have never found any type of the so called "foaming" bore cleaners that would begin to touch copper fouling. In fact, I haven't been able to find one that would even remove thin copper smearing at the muzzle. Maybe my bores foul worse than the rest of the world...maybe the bullets I shoot are some weird alloy, but I doubt it.

Butch's bore shine
WHAT? I have Butch's, but I also have at least 17 other bore cleaners. I thought it took an entire array of chemicals and mystery juice to be considered a real rifleman. Otherwise, visitors to your gun room will think you're a FNG, and who wants that?

I rotate through my collection, often using three or four different kinds each time I clean a gun in a desperate search to find Nirvana.

I'm not sure if all of them actually work or none of them. Isn't that the way it's supposed to be?

Joe joe's nuclear waste bombardment copper crusher and beeswax use only on Tuesdays will remove all copper and 28 grades of steel lol

Baha ha ha... I almost had coffee come out my nose....

Like the others who have Bore scopes I have messed with a bunch of them. Settled on Bore Tech as well. Mostly because it works well and it does not stink like some of the others. For what ever reason I really dislike the smell of Butches. I have found that it works well... I just don't like the smell. Wish it came in Hoppes scent....

I reach for Boretech every time now. On a custom barrel I see a whole lot less copper and way more carbon and that is what I am after most times... the Carbon fouling.

If I am going to put the rifle up for a spell, I clean it with JB to the metal then give it a few patches of EZZOX or RIG to prevent rust pits here in the humid south.

^^^^^^^++++! I have used many, many "cleaners / solvents" over many years of cleaning>>>>BoreTech Eliminator is by far and away the best.. T-Rust me, I have tried and used about all of them..
I also like the BoreTec Eliminator when I want to do a one step cleaning. According to the BoreTec Chemical Guide on their website the Eliminator is rated as Good for carbon and their C4 is rated as Excellent for carbon. Both their Eliminator and CU+2 are rated as Excellent for copper. Because of this I will do the 2 step C4 and CU+2 when I have time at home and the Eliminator when I am short of time.

Chad. I have 15 different bore cleaners at my house. It seems that they all will clean, carbon. copper and powder fouling to various degrees. I use to use Butch's more than the others until one of my friends gave me a case of Wipe Out Patch out and a case of Wipe Out Accelerator that some rep from sharpshooter gave him. I did a little test against Butch's and I was amazed how much more copper was removed by the Patch Out compared to Butch's BS. I borescope my barrels after cleaning them, but I don't clean the barrels squeaky clean either. I do like to have a little copper left in there. I don't use any brushes at all, just patches and my borescope shows me that the cleaner is doing it's job. More people ruin barrels from cleaning than anything else. I have read that for really tough copper fouling KG12 seems to be the ticket. Quite a few guy's that I shoot against up here swear by Bore Tech Eliminator, but I have never used it.

I only have 1 bore cleaner on my bench and that's Butch's bore shine. I'm not sure how well it works since I don't have a bore scope but I can tell you this. My barrels get cleaned only when the groups start to open up and after cleaning with Butch's the rifles always go back to shooting well again. So it must be doing a pretty good job....but then I'm not a guy who's going to scrub a barrel for hours trying to get all the gunk out. None of my barrels are considered "premium" but none of them take more than 4 or 5 wet patches to get clean.....My Criterions routinely come clean with only 2 wet patches.
