DIY turret labels

Very nice and great idea.

I would like to add how I have set up my ballistics info. Since dialing in a groundhog at 1000 yards gets a little iffy, I set up my range card in 1/2 MOA increments instead of 25 or 50 yard increments.
It's nice to know how many yards the POI moves for 2 clicks, for example.
For me a label would have a yardage at every other click (1/4 MOA scope). Probably too cluttered.

I am working on making this as a type of theme in the tool - and thinking of having option of yardages written vertically (rotated 90 degrees)
Something like this:

Very nice. And not too cluttered at all. Unfortunately, dialing in 1000 yards is on the third revolution (25 MOA) of my turret.
I guess I will just have to keep referencing my range card which is always in the lid of the 50 round ammo box currently in use. ( I rotate 4 50 round boxes for my groundhog hunting.)

I can improve the tool easily adding a band for third revolution of turret. Will probably be done this weekend :)
(edited) Just saw you replied to the post about adding possibility of vertically positioned yardages - still, depending on font size, tower height etc it would be possible to add bands for more than one revolution. Still on the todo. Until then, the third band for the horizontal yardages will be made this weekend.

Just added possibility for 3. band. Its height (ratio of total label height) is default 0 - If you want to add this third band, make sure to adjust the other bands ratios (sum need to be 1 to make them fit/fill out the height of the label). You would probably remove the name band (set height ratio to 0), to make room for third revolution band.
Have fun.

This is what I did on my two long range coyote rifle vortex scopes. The turrets were 1/2 moa clicks, not the normal 1/4. The turret had 24 moa, so that gave it 48 clicks for one complete turn. So i had one of these labels made that wrapped around my top turret with numbers 1-48. Since my rifles shot so flat out to 300 yds, I simply started the number 0 at my 300 yd zero. I then went to Vortex's website and pulled up my ballistic data and had it print out my drops in one yd increments. I then made up a cheat sheet that gave that known yardage at each click increment. So I could then range a long range target....usually a coyote... then look at the sheet to see which click number was the closet to that range, then turn the turret to that number on the click ribbon and then roll over the coyote... but so far, my furthest first shot DRT has only been to 631 yds.... BUT... the idea works GREAT.

Standardelg... I like your idea of putting the yardage numbers right on the turret... what can be better than that...?

I forgot to mention that my cheat sheet also has the wind drift numbers at each click in inches of drift and moa's...with a 10 mph, 3 o'clock cross wind. I usually only hold over in inches or feet, depending on how far the distance is of course.

Windage label is also on the todo list, hoping to introduce it soon

I push the download button but nothing seems to happen. Where does it download to?
Hi Andy,
It should download to your Downloads folder (unless you've set your browser to use alternate folder)
Could you tell me which OS and browser you're using? Maybe there are issues with certain browsers/settings... And could I ask you to try from different browser, eg Chrome or Firefox?

I am using Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 Pro. I also tried a Microsoft Explorer 11 on a Windows 7 Home premium. Neither worked.

This is awesome!! I'm making one for my yote rig now. 2 suggestions. First allow the image to be pinned to the top when you scroll if you can. It would be easier to see what the changes I made look like. Also have an example with arrows pointing to each feature and tells the user what you call that feature. These are just little suggestions though. Amazing amazing amazing FREE tool!!

Thank you for the very good suggestions. It's been in kind of beta for some time now - and definitely needs some UX improvements.

I'll have a look and see if I can make a quick fix - Until then, please have a go with either Chrome or Firefox.
Some day soon I will probably refactor and create the resulting image in a different way, which should not cause any troubles in any browser. I just need some spare time (which is not reserved for shooting) ;)

This is an awesome idea. My printer is making them way too big though?
The images are made in 600dpi, with the exact amount of pixels to match height and width of label. If your printer (or operating system) won't open image in or print in 600dpi per default, it usually works opening image as a pdf (open with eg Adobe or another pdf viewer) and print from within the pdf-viewer. In the print dialogue make sure there is no scaling (print in 100%).
