Dima stock finish

Looking at a Dima stock, and wondering what the difference is between the varnish and covered with oil is, other than the obvious difference in how they appear.

Any advantages or disadvantages over one or the other? Can't decide. I like them both. On is a lot cheaper than the other though. Or is there a finish you prefer more than the other?
