Dillon

Well the XL 750 is real , in this months blue press it has replaced the 650 but decked out it looks to be about $100 more.. I personally liked the fact that Dillon has made basically the same products for many years because when you call with a problem they had answers... This new 750 to me looks like a cross between the 550 and 650.. Strange to see such a radical change since the new 550 is so close to the old 550 exept very minor changes.... It looks like alot of the 650 stuff will switch over to the 750 such as caliber conversions and tool heads...

Yeah, just had a peek at their website, the 750 is there and the 650 is not. The 750, from what I can see, appears to be the same as 650 other than the priming system. It appears to be linear similar to the 550 and not rotary. There could be other small differences perhaps though. I wonder if the newer style priming system could be replaced on the 650 if one wanted to change over to the linear style.

DIFFERENCES BEWEEN THE XL750 AND THE XL650

Many current and potential customers are asking about the differences between Dillon's XL650 and the nw XL750.
The XL750 has a simplified linear priming system. It only requires the removal of two nuts to detach and change sizes on the primer feed system. Like the XL650, the 750 deprimes in station 1 and primes in station 2, minimizing any chance that spent primer residue could interfere with priming.
The shellplate indexing mechanism has been completely redesigned, so the shellplate turns more smoothly, decreasing cases wobble. The index pawl has been relocated on the ring indexer and the spring direction reversed. This makes it more difficult to accidently break the ring indexer. The index block now has a roller, which also smoothes out indexing.
Additionally, the index block incorporates a spring-loaded overtravel stop, which significantly increases the life of springs on the machine.
All caliber conversion kits, toolheads and most parts interchange freely between the XL750 and the XL650. Parts that are unique to the XL650 will remain in full production.

And to Answer my own question:

The XL650 cannot be updated into an XL750. The design change to the primer feed, and the necessary machining changes to the frame preclude this. We will be offering the new style index block, with the roller and overtravel stop, for the XL650.
We will be offering a very stripped version of the XL750 in a few months, that does not include a conversion kit, toolhead, powder measure, handle, and case feed post, so if you want to use much of your XL650 components, you aren't paying for duplicates.
The XL750 and XL650 have identical frame mounting holes, so no redrilling or new strong mount is needed.

If you look closely it looks like they have extended the primer slide track/bearing out further to prevent binding that can happen on the 550 primer system which this seems to be eliminating the need for the little extended slides/bearing plates you can purchase from 3rd party builders which seems to be really the only complaint about the 550 , the skipping of the primer slide.... Although Dillon will replace the bearing for free and actually regular cleaning of the bearing and slide will help prevent this along with NOT over tightening the primer tube/slide to press screws....

I dropped by Dillon in Scottsdale.

They have the 750 on the showroom floor for demo and have several 750's boxed ready to sell and carry out the door.
