Dillon Eliminator problems

I bought a Dillon Eliminator beam scale from a member and this thing never returns to the same place twice. I can check with check weights and be dead on. Check it again and either light or heavy. Also, after checking with check weights, returning the everything back to zero, it will not return to zero. Again it will be light or heavy. Everything is level and no drafts or fans. It should be in perfect conditions for an accurate measurement. Does anyone have any tips, tricks or modifications to help resolve this issue?

Thanks,
Steve

I had the exact same problem with the same scale years ago. I would zero it and use a check weight when sitting up. Then I’d load 10-15 rounds and then check the zero again and it would be off like 0.1-0.3gr. I shelved it and bought a new scale. I really liked the Dillon until it kept messing up on me. I never figured it out.

Hey Feller, like has been mentioned by @itchyTF, give Dillion a call. We have a lot of blue paint sitting around here in the shop and the dillion fokes are top notch when it comes to taking care of their products . I figure they will make you happy.....John

Still using my Lyman 505? bought in 1966. The beam has been removed 3 times for a move. Removed every 5-10 years otherwise for a cleaning. My Sierra 52 BTHP check weight hasn't changed weight in all these years. And the weight of the weighted charge is the last thing on my mind when shooting my tack driver guns. Your powder measure results may vary!

Unfortunately the beam scale whisperer doesn’t work on 3 poise scales. Oh well.
There are very good reasons why I don’t.

1. Every poise has some error built into it. I’d rather have only two sources of error than three.

2. The middle poise common to both the Dillon and 505 scales is bent into a “C” shape that causes repeatability issues.

Unfortunately now it looks like I’m stuck with it for the time being. I’m going to send it to Dillon. Lesson learned.
