Dillon electronic scale question

I'm in the market for a decent electronic scale. I had a Dillon which served me well for several years but recently quit working. Can anyone tell me if the new Dillon is still a good reliable scale. I don't need a lab balance. I just need +/- 0.1gr accuracy. I tried a Lyman - it sucked - drifted all the time.

Re: Dillon powder measure question

First off, your post is mislabelled.. your question is about an electronic scale, not a powdermeasure as stated in the subject line.

I used a $90 PACT electronic scale for almost a decade, and without a balance beam scale to check those weights, I know it was all over the board. Did not matter much as I was loading for varmints, and they did not mind if I missed.

I have since upgraded to the VIC 123, which was about $300 when I bought it a few years ago. But now I am loading for LR, and weighing every charge. I use a balance beam scale to verify that it is spot on, checking about every tenth load.

depending on your use of the load, you can probably get by with any of the "century note" electronic scales, and they may give you +/- 0.1 grains, at least in the readout. Not likely in reality... depending on the load, I would stick with the balance beam for that price point.

Ohaus Jewelers scale YR 152 reads two decimal places no drift , balances in 3 seconds. Comes with it's own master weight all for less than $200. Works well for me.

I have an older Dillon (might be exactly like the one that died) you can have for the postage to ship it. Wall plug, takes a 9V battery, grounded plastic platform cover w/hole in the top, excellent condition. I might even have the manual.

If you're interested let's take this to PM & maybe I can save you some $$ while you help me reduce my inventory of 'redundant' stuff....

I just recently bought a Dillon D-Terminator and find it to be a great scale. Using test weights it's dead on and best of all, stays that way through my entire loading session as I also check it with test weights when done.

The only annoying thing with the scale is that it turns off after a short interval. Take an extra minute seating, measuring, adding powder to the dispenser, and it shuts off. Naturally, this is designed to save batteries but it also does it when plugged in.

I asked Dillon about it and they told me to just remove the batteries while using the AC adapter. Did so and it stays on as long as I want it too.

Scale is more than accurate for my needs. When weights are compared to a "tuned" 5-0-5 RCBS they are right on. Have noticed a couple of them showing up at the range lately, being used by some of the better shooters there.
