Dillon B and C question

Hello
I have Dillon B and C presses.
I have noticed that I can not move shellholders between presses without resetting die height. Anyone else have this incompatibility?
Thanks

550 I am assuming?

I know they had a redesign on their 1050/1100 shellplates several years ago, but it did not change the die height dimension. That dimension is pretty much an industry standard from what I have gathered.

Shell holders - rotating plate - is held by the center bolt who dictate how tight you set it up.Some caliber case run in the shell - in a groove in the shell holder like 9 mm that will cause this - some other run under the shell holder like .38-.357 which has no effect then.

Any adjustment needed will be very minor and might come from the dies tool head to frame play. A kit exist to remove completely this play by modding the die tool head.

B & C refer to the 550. The B and C are not identical. The C frame is more beefy according to Dillon. That might account also for the OAL difference - but not sure of this.

But they use same conversion kit and tool head.

I have two Dillon 550 presses; one is an early 550 press the other is probably a 550B.
My tool heads do not interchange, but because one is set up for large pistol primers, the other small pistol primers, so I generally have no need to switch.

I have had both of my presses apart and cannot seem to find a difference but there definitely is one.

Okay. Using a small Starrett Combination Square measuring from the shellplate platform to the tool head groove bottom, there is 1/16 of an inch difference. 15/16 and 1 inch.
