I'm not familiar with the Link, but have a (now retired)1500. The 1500 had a valve consisting of a round plastic collar that had half open, half blocked off. To drain the hopper, you move the unit to a suitable location that allows room under the spout, place a receptacle under the spout, and spin the collar to put the open side down. Which in itself is fine, up until you refill the hopper. I (and quite a few others, from what I hear) have refilled the hopper with the valve still in the drain position, which wastes powder and makes a pretty good mess. I always meant to paint the collar half neon-orange to visually show that the valve is in the open position, but never got around to it (the 1500 is currently sitting in a box on the top shelf of my closet.)
