Difficulty seating primers

I had a difficult time priming new Lapua BR brass using a Lee primer tool and Wolf SRM primers.
I had to relegate those primers to cases with a few firings on them, but even then it wasn’t as smooth as I’d like.
Enter the K&M primer tool, it handled those Wolf primers and BR brass without any problem, a bit snug, but very consistent priming. After a firing or two, IMO they prime perfectly.

Back in 2015/16(ish) when I was picking up a lot of range discard 308 and processing it as spares, I noticed that a *lot* of Hornady commercial once-fired stuff was crimped. Not sure why. But I got in the habit of running it through a swager before going anywhere with it.

If you don't have a primer pocket swager or reamer, you can get rid of the crimp with a rocketship deburring tool. Insert, give it a couple of twists, and you'll be good to go.

Oh, and I don't know about S&B primers, but their 45 brass is really tight in the primer pockets. Very noticeable on a progressive press.

I had quite a bit of trouble last year and this past winter with new batches of both Lapua and Petersen SRP braas in the form of 6x47L. Seating was very difficult with several brands of SR primers both recent and earlier production. Uniforming depth with a Hart supplied reamer didn't effect any changes. RCBS swagers only radius the pocket mouth without changing diameter..
I was concerned about the excess force needed to seat and resulting deformation of primers was causing vertical at distance. I eventually tried a Lyman pocket reamer used by hand-carefully. I found the only way this would work was to use a lubricant on the reamer and only make one gentle cut. This worked well but was messy as all get out. Oh, burnishing the reamer with a carbide shaft cleaned up the cuts as well, since the finish on that reamer is not especially fine.
