Difference between 6 x 47 and 6 x 47 Lapua?

I am a predator hunter and have a 6 x 47 that is my main night time hunting rifle. I started looking for a good set of Redding dies for my rifle to see if I could wring any more accuracy out of my rifle and came across these 6 x 47 Lapua dies but nothing in 222 Rem Mag/6mm.

What is the difference between the two and can I use the 6 x 47 Lapua dies to reload for my 6 x 47? Thanks!

The old 6x47 based on the 222 mag case necked up and the 6x47 Lapua are 2 completely different animals. The Lapua is the 6.5x47 Lapua case necked down, uses a 22/250 sized case head. They are both 6mm and both 47 mm long but dies aren't interchangeable.

I assume you have been reloading as that is your only ammo source?? Redding and RCBS and possibly even Forster make higher end 'competition' dies I assume for your 6x47. Here is a link to what Midway has but there are other sources such as Graf's, Lock, Stock and Barrel, Midsouth Shooters Supply, Sinclairs, Bruno's etc that have different set ups. This RCBS is pretty spendy I think but gives you an idea. Hope this answers some of your questions?

Thanks, gents. Yes, I am reloading for my 6 x 47 and do have the RCBS dies that you provided the link for. I was hoping to get a set of the Redding Competition dies with their competition style seater.

get a 222 mag sizer (Redding types S bushing die) and hone out the neck to allow the 6mm neck to clear and use the appropriate bushing,,,,Roger
