Die help for 6brx newbie

Please excuse my ignorance and bear with me as I'm new to reloading and the brx. A 6brx reamer I ordered from PTG has arrived to rechamber my 6br. The reamer spec were to suit lapua brass, .271' neck & 0.098 freebore. I need to purchase a set of dies now as I have been borrowing my friends. From the posts here I gather I'm looking at a redding 308 body die, redding 6br s type full length bushing die & seating duties with a 6br straight line seated reamed with brx reamer. The big question is with the redding dies as the ones I've borrowed are small base items and i haven't seen any mention of the use of these on the brx. So question is to all the brx shooters do I order standard or small base dies. I'd appreciate any advice on the matter.

You should not need sb dies if you ordered a standard body reamer. If someone specs out a tight chamber reamer then you would need a smaller die set.

Straight line seaters are fine but I prefer the Forrester Benchrest model. Provides very low loaded round runouts. It is every bit as good as the reading and a bit cheaper too.

I use a Redding 6mmBR die (S type) with .266 bushing. Backed out .098".

I supply my customers with Redding 6mmBR body die with the top end bored our with a carbide boring bar. The same can be acheived with a .243, .260, 7mm08, or 308 sizing die with the guts removed. You may have to remove as much as .030" from the bottom of the die to get complete sizing in the web.

I bought a Hydraulic sizing die from Hornady. I have had some premature case head seperation issues. I think fire forming in the chamber still is the best solution.

There are several good post about the 6mmBRX on this site. You can find out all the information you need to be successful with the 6mmBRX or 6mmDasher.

If you will trim and anneal your cases about every 3rd-4th reloading keeping your neck tension is very important in preventing flyers.

Many people try to over load the 6mmBRX it shoots best and the brass/barrels last the longest if they presure and velocity is kept between 3025 and 3075 fps. When shooting the 6mmBRX in a F-Class situation the barrel can be expected to last about 3000- 3500 round without a set back then the barrels are generally toast. I have set barrels back at 2200-2500 and gotten 4000 rounds from a barrel.

I see some responses here from some who apparently know this cartridge pretty well. I am working up a 6mm BRX right now and have a few questions myself:

By necessity, is the 6BRX set up always a set up where you use a 6BR die for the top end of the case and something like a .308 Win for the lower end (i.e. unless you have a special 6mm BRX full length die made up)?

How often do you find you need to re-size the base of the case?

Are there any chamber set ups where you don't need to use two dies (i.e. you can just use a 6BR sizing die up about .098 higher than normal)?

I bumped the shoulder and sized the base after 7 firings with hot loads. Not sure if I really needed to do base though.
