Did my first chamber... w/ bore cam video

Unfortunately I wont be able to shoot it. The barrel is toast, and there's less than 100 thou of shoulder. It's an old savage prefit that I fit up to a bat action just to go through the movements. If any experts wish to opine my ears are open.

I threaded each end - muzzle and action. Thread/shoulder fit-up is good. When the part meets the shoulder there's a solid sound / clunk. If you know you know.

I think you did a great job myself. I cant help but wonder how you got a shoulder on a prefit thats smaller than the threads of the action?

Thank you. it's a pre-fit for a model 12 so the shank is barely big enough for a positive stop against the action face.
Now you can see very clearly how hard it is to rechamber junk barrels and just how bad they are when you look at how uneven the cut is in the grooves but its not the reamer doing it. You can see how they are not round

Did you calculate a headspace measurement somehow and attempt to hit that exactly?

Regardless of your process used to hit it, doing that 10 times and nailing it is most important.

The best part is you can use the same barrel and do it in .025 increments never having to remove and redial the barrel. Choose a target number so you have to take the go and start from “fresh” measurement each time. You’ll probably screw up the basic math at least once in the first 5 times, and miss it once going too deep too. It’s all fixable, but probably the most annoying mistake to make IMO.

I pre-drilled and bored the majority of the chamber body. Went at it with the reamer until the fit was close, and just carefully snuck up on it. Closes on go Guage, doesn't close on go+scotch tape.

I have a micrometer reamer stop but didn't use it. It has a lot of pieces and I wanted to hit the first one naked so to speak.

Just the way I started too - sounds like you're doing everything right.
