dial then hold over

I was wondering if a target is say 750 yrds out and you have your turrets marked up to 500yrds, could you dial to 500-then use your mildots for hold overs.

U certainly could do it that way, but i think it'd be more accurate,for reticle usage, that is) to do the opposite. IMO, 1 of the best applications for the mil-dot reticle is for windage use in combination with a turret for vertical.
